Curtis Stevens had an underrated performance vs GGG

The fact that he'd dealt with LHW punches for a good chunk of his career was definitely a plus. Unlike Lemieux who simply survived rounds, Stevens was able to land a few good counters. And GGG showed a pretty damn good chin in that fight- which is just fuckin scary.

I agree. I was impressed how was able to back Golovkin up a few times. The height difference and Golovkin being an overall better fighter was too much for him to overcome. It's funny how Golovkin is capable of winning fights with his boxing skills yet he prefers to using this "brawling"'style to get a KO. I think the ultimate test will be when someone is able withstand his onslaught and he has to win a fight by using his skills.

Even after GGG knocked him down, he didn't rush in because he was getting caught with Stevens power and counter shots so he took his time.

Still, Stevens had his moments and was catching and shooting GGG, something we have never seen before.

Usually, GGG didn't get worthy opponents in the ring...
When he did, GGG took his time, of course -- he needed rounds and tough opposition in order to prepare for bigger competition.

I thought GGG was toying with Stevens if I remember correctly. And Stevens power is overrated. At least in that fight, which was the first time seeing Stevens for me. He was throwing arm punches with no leverage at all. I remember not being impressed with Stevens at all in that fight.

Stevens held his own but GGG was punishing him at the end. Once Golovkin gets a shot in the middle late rounds, Stevens slowed down. His corner was right, you have to get inside with Triple G to make it competitive. It didn't work because he's a beast but it made it a better fight.
