Trust me, Hugh, Peter bs' just as much as the next guy. Remember when Hughie was being ducked by all HW's from 5-50 in the rankings? And then he found ways not to fight Tony Thompson or Wilder?

Not that he should be fighting those guys at this stage, but Peter was the one who put the idea out there.

Too right aswell. He has a duty to his fighters and his family first and foremost. I just find it strange that this illness has been around for a few years now and Hughie has mostly gone about his career as normal (fighting regularly, taking step up vs Kassi and sheduled to fight on July 9th) but now this fight is presented it resurfaces as a reason not to fight?

If he is ill he needs to stop fighting and sort it out imo. No point fighting every few months if it is harming your performances or meaning you cant take the steps up

If his body cant handle to fight every few months hes not made to be a fighter and should retire, thats it. A yound fighter like him has to fight as often as possible to improve as fast as possible, long layoffs are verry bad for a young fighter and he cant develop.

I think their reasoning at the moment is that it's better to fight someone than not fight at all, but I also wouldn't mind if they just pulled him out completely for another year or so to find out what's going wrong with him. They did that before, between mid 2014 to early 2015, and claimed the problems had been sorted, but that's obviously not the case. No reason not to do it again properly this time. This is a man's life we're talking about, and god forbid if it's anything serious the last thing he should be doing is boxing.

Peter obviously has high hopes for his son and has inflated his current abilities quite a bit above what they obviously are, but I take all that with a pinch of salt. Hughie has ability, but he's still very raw and ill to boot. It doesn't make sense to throw him in with even a limited fighter like Whyte before he's ready, whatever his father might be saying about him.
