  • Comments Thread For: Robert Garcia: Khan Can Recover, Has A lot of Big Fights at 147

Veteran trainer Robert Garcia is confident that former world champion Amir Khan (31-4, 19KOs) can bounce back after last Saturday's brutal knockout at the hands of Saul 'Canelo' Alvarez at the T-Mobile Arena in Las Vegas.

Maybe but if ever there was a time that Khan should ease back it's now.Talk of going straight back in to a big fight is ridiclous not just for Khan but for fans as well.

Khan needs to prove he can be fit healthy and effective at 147 he has no form and as always we have to rely on his word which hasn't worked in recent fights.

After his medical ban Khan should be made to have warm up fight or two.The way he hit the deck and was out cold was not good to watch and no matter what Khan said it could not be good for him.

He will comeback. He gets ko easily so doesn't take too much punishment like toney

But he will get ko again before he retires They all punch hard apart from Bradley and malignancies but at least they had tough chins. Wws can ko him just like 160 guys

He might just pull a Maidana and retire.

Khan can't win with the haters, he takes a soft fight "Canelo took his soul, he ll fight bums from now on"

Khan takes a great non punching boxer like Bradley "he is a ***** , will not fight a puncher again"

Fights a puncher "he is ******, will get destroyed, team Khan are idiots"

For me, I'd like to see him fight Vargas. Vargas or Danny. Danny ko's him again, but I'd say 60-40.
              Danny might just get outboxed

There are so many things wrong with this article:
                1. Nobody wants to see Khan any more.
                2. Nobody comes out better from a KO. That is just ******.
                3. Effects from a KO are ussually seen years after the event, so there's no way to tell if Khan is really OK.

Define "a lot"? I think he gots a couple big fights. I think he'll probably get blasted in them sooner or later thus he'll never get to "a lot" territory. Khan's chin is bad. Thats just the reality.

Khan was smartly moved away from anyone who could punch post-Garcia til he scored a big fight. Hell he's largely been moved away from any high level punchers since the 1st KO L I think you could argue, outside of Maidana.

Now if they just say f#ck it, we got 4 L's & 3 bad KO L's lets fight whoever, I just don't see anything changing vs guys who can punch & most of the guys he can have big fights against got okay to solid power. Really the only notable 147 fights I could get behind much if I was on his team with some faith would be vs Jessie Vargas (who's not even a big fight) or Porter (who outside of the Paulie fight has never shown much worrisome power, but if he loses to Keith there is less appeal to this fight).

The bolded is incorrect. Khan is a fun guy to watch, win or lose. People will still wanna see him fight. Getting KO'd, regular or Khan-style, changes nothing with that.

I agree, more or less, with the rest of what you're saying. The last thing you're saying I think will be something that people in boxing will take more seriously in the sport in the coming years, but its still too early for that concept I guess. I suspect at some point getting straight KO'd like Khan got will get you a 6 or 12 month medical suspension. And I suspect at some point having that happen continually will get increasingly longer medical suspensions or even bans from boxing. Basically I don't think most people in or out of boxing appreciate how dangerous getting hit in the head is, but that'll change in time.
