I personally counted 97k.
Did ggg-lemieux do 97k or 150k?

Glaser said 97k. Fight Hype said it was tracking in the low 100s or somewhere along that line. Floyd Mayweather in an interview said it did 90 something. Kevin Iole didn't have a specific number, but he defended Glaser when Fat Dan attacked Glaser's numbers.
The 150k number only came from Tom Loeffler's mouth.Last edited by DoktorSleepless; 05-11-2016, 07:54 PM.Comment

Wrong. It was a low budget ppv. You're spoiled by Floyd and Pac viewership. They got a million ppvs because they got paid tens of millions of dollars.
TC/Postol is in the same mold as Lemieux fight. Those 2 fighters will have guarantees of 1-2m each and will be able to do well financially with 100-200k ppvs.Comment

Naw man i remember all the hype before the fight about how much it was going to sell and how huge of a draw GGG was..those numbers are horribleWrong. It was a low budget ppv. You're spoiled by Floyd and Pac viewership. They got a million ppvs because they got paid tens of millions of dollars.

Stop being sheep. You can do basic math and figure out the event was a financial success.
You can read multiple predictions, k2 said they were hoping for 200-250k. In an article by sports illustrated they said 150k would he great.
As for the hype, you're dead wrong. I live in the middle of NYC, it takes me 10 minutes to walk to MSG where the fight took place. I saw zero promotions for that fight. Not even exaggerating. There was nothing. The event wasn't promoted.
When you say hyped, yeah, they were hoping that gggs style and persona endeared him to most of the population, but they didn't expect it.
Look at the fighters' purses - that tells you more about the expectations than any promoter. Money makes the world go around. Looking at PPV numbers in a vacuum is absolutely idiotic.Comment
