Beterbiev is definitely one to watch in the division. Seasoned skill wise, I still put him a step or two behind Kovalev and Ward, but if he keeps improving he'll have a belt within 2 years tops.Comment

That's not even surprising. Chechens or dagestanis, ****** ethnicities that are natives of Caucasus mountains, they're really little bit different than other people. Growing up in Caucasus mountains, far from urban or city infrastructure, people from that regions make average Russians look small. They're too ****ing huge, their teens with big ass beards looks like they're in their late 20's and they're naturally so stronger than Russians (and all other people coming from big cities with polluted air and etc.) that they usually dominate all martial arts here like judo, grappling or sambo with ease. Usually, they're not into boxing so Beterbiev is a rare case. But we're talking about the region where MAJORITY of young people practicing some kind of martial arts. On top of that, their traditions over there is really strict, masculine and might seem barbaric to some people. Plus, this is the region that was experiencing wars throughout all their history, there was a war in Chechnya in 90's so Beterbiev probably was growing up in a war torn area during that time.
Considering all of that, you can see why Beterbiev is a rare breed. These people are a rare breeds, believe me, because I live in Russia so I know what I'm talking about. It's sad these people prefer other kinds of martial arts to boxing though. Average chechen or dagestani can make an average Russian look small and weak because of the healthy environment where they're growing up, strict traditions and because of their dedication to different kinds of sports.
Islam might be the reason but they always seems to be very disciplined too
We're actually calling Beterbiev "BTR" over here, and BTR means this https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/BTR_(vehicle)Last edited by g27region; 05-12-2016, 02:42 AM.Comment

@ g27... on that end, Ill say this much.. I remember once a while back there was a title fight between a guy from America and a Russian and the American guy was talking about how tough his neighborhood was and thats why HE is so tough and will win, etc and the Russian guy said something (paraphrasing here) like "In my country we do not brag about being from bad neighborhoods and being poor. We know it is bad and we know we are poor and we do not think this is good thing. And my poor neighborhood makes your poor neighborhood look like childs play ground."Last edited by ICEMAN JOHN SCULLY; 05-12-2016, 09:47 AM.Comment

Artur is a different...or, at least, rare breed...I see in him a BIG difference mentally that most professional fighters. This is a guy who took a fight with a hard punching former champ in Cloud at a point when almost every other fighter in history at the same point in their career was still fighting 4 rounds fight, maybe 6's...Comment

Growing up in a bad neighborhood doesn't give you that natural power or strenght like Beterbiev has. Beterbiev is a different animal compared to these guys, he's the result of growing up in the Chechen culture which puts masculinity and fighting on a pedestal, in a place where people just genetically stronger and bigger (at least, compared to ethnic Russians) because of more healthy natural environment far from polluted air or GM food.
I'm pretty sure, you can't be THAT strong if you're from some big city
If you follow UFC you probably know who Khabib Nurmagomedov is, another example of what kind of people that place (Caucasus mountains) breeds. The guy was wrestling with ****ing bear when he was a kid and the video of it is all over the internetLast edited by g27region; 05-12-2016, 12:40 PM.Comment
