Well.. how he did it proved that he is more than just power, more than just the "one-dimensional brawler" many said he was. He showcased some fine Boxing skills in there. Similar to Kovalev vs BHop but a bit more impressive considering the age differences. Lemule was no push over that night either, Rubio didn't exactly "ruin" him.

      I agree.

GGG is at the tail end of his prime, if he isn't past it already.. Canelo is just entering prime, so GBP will obviously try to delay as much as possible.

As it stands now, I think GGG's experience(am & pro)/Ring IQ/Boxing Skills/etc. will make the difference. Say what you will about his resume but you don't fight THAT many fights without learning a thing or 2..

A year or 2 later? Who knows? Dude is getting old.

He definitely has better stamina than Alvarez, and his relentless pressure on someone who isn't the best mover in the world and doesn't like to throw a lot is going to make a huge difference. This might be a more skilled version of Margarito/Cotto 1, where the more skilled fighter couldn't hold off someone who was in his face every minute of every round and eventually gets worn down.
I think GGG's stamina is more unknown than people wanna believe. He's been over 8 rounds twice in his career & he was largely in sparring matches in those fights just beating up a guy who was offering lil back. Canelo has been 12 rounds 9 times. The deeper this fight goes the more I like Canelo's chances. Although granted some of that is cuz I fully expect GGG needing to be winning 10-2 to get a 7-5 decision.

While GGG is clearly got power & strength on his side I guarantee you Canelo will be landing some nice **** back & GGG isn't gonna be throwing like he usually throws if he's smart. I suspect he fights like he was vs Lemieux & is ultra careful early & works the jab a lot. He's gonna be missing more & for sure getting winded if he isn't mindful of that. I actually expect this fight to be a hybrid of the GGG vs Lemieux & Monroe fights the more I think about it. There will be a lot less one sided action & more strategy going on than people expect I feel.

Canelo is far and away the best fight GGG has faced. Canelo's defense is good enough, his power is good enough, that I actually expect GGG to box Canelo like he did Lemieux.

I'm sure a decision will get better than even odds.
As far as best GGG has faced... I don't think Canelo would fare well against Martin Murray at all.

GGG is familiar with Canelo...I'm not sure he gives the counter-punching Mexican the same sort of jab-heavy respect that was given to power punching Lemieux and Stevens. Those two come in trying to come forward and take your head off. Canelo, no.
