As we saw in the Khan fight, there's always going to be one paid off judge who will flagrantly favor Canelo on the scorecards.
So lets say GGG doesnt get the KO but scores an impressive 8-4 victory in the eyes of everyone that can see. That means one judge will necessarily have it 8-4 or worse for Canelo. At best GGG might just skate by with a split decision even if he wins almost every round (but doubtful). And obviously, there's no chance of GGG winning a legitimate split decision (i.e. if the fight really is close, then its assured Canelo will get the victory).
We might see a Pac-Bradley I scenario where GGG clearly wins but gets completely robbed and there's a big "outcry" and we get another rematch.
In fact, if GGG completely schools Canelo, then GGG getting robbed is the only way to really sell the rematch.
No matter what, expect foul play.
