    Audley offered a lifeline

Audley Harrison has been given a lifeline in the heavyweight division being told to go back to where he should have begun with a Southern Area title shot.

John Rooney manager of Mickey Steeds the current Southern Area heavyweight champion has offered 'A' Force a chance to resurrect his career with a fight for the title that he believes he should have fought for at the beginning of his career.

Of course Audley went straight from the Olympic gold medal to handling his own career and appearing as the headline act on the BBC a move that alienated a lot of the boxing purists.

After winning the WBF title he then came unstuck over twelve rounds against Danny Williams and then again recently suffered his second defeat to unheralded Dominic Guinn again on points.

Many are now saying it is time for Audley to hang up the gloves, but if he does want to carry on and start again then the offer from Rooney is on the table.

Having you created this thread, and me knowing you like Audley....can you please give me a reason why he's an attraction? What is it....that you find interesting about him, and more specifically what contributions to boxing has he given at the professional level?

As it stands....my perception is he's a fraud that wastes everyone's time and insults the sport with his in-ring antics.

Having watched a couple of Harrison fights, he shows, at times he has talent. He also has great conditioning, size, and reach.

Although it seems like he has the whole package, he lacks one of the most important ingrediants of a good fighter. And that is, the mental component of the sweet science. He's tentative, unfocused, and not aggressive enough. Without these attributes, he's doomed to mediocrity and failure.

Not sure what you've seen that makes you think he has great conditioning.

          His conditioning sucks.

Ok so yeah, don't get all butt-hurt.

I was just curious why you like him....that's all chief. Oh and by me cycling through multiple avatars of dozens of fighters I respect and admire in the sport....that makes me a "bandwagon" fan? get real.

Harrison deserves all is recent bad luck. His ego is too big and he hasn't earned the acclaim he reaps on himself. I hope he suffers more defeats!

very well put and i couldn't agree more and i lost £20 on him against Danny Williams. He seems potentially great but just isn't.
