This is a reckless statement. Lara has always been quality and he could provide real tactical difficulties for ggg. Only issue is hes not a mw but I would like this fight more than many others that could be made and more than all that ggg has had to this point. If ggg is about proving himself he can handily beat a fighter who gave canelo all he could handle.

Martinez vs Barker got made when it was initiated via twitter. Barker called out Martinez on twitter when Martinez couldn't find an opponent. Martinez's side was then made aware of Barker's interest by that simple tweet. Dibella, as the A-side's promoter, then contacted Eddie Hearn and made them an offer. Fight was made quickly.

I don't see what's so different about this Golovkin-Lara situation. And I don't get why people are getting snarky as if Lara isn't serious because he himself hasn't made an actual offer. K2's side are well aware of Lara's interest, and have been for some time. As the B-side, letting the A-side know of your interest is really all you can do until the A-side makes an offer. If the show of interest is made in twitter or a phone call (or on national television when Lara called him out after a fight), I don't see the relavent difference. It's the 21st century. Twitter nowadays is just as a valid form of communication as a phone call. If K2 were at all interested in Lara, they would have contacted Haymon already since K2 holds the cards with HBO. There's not much Lara should do other than sit and wait for a K2 offer.

How you show interest can make a difference if your promoter doesn't work with the network, or you're on anti Gatti list, or you want 5x what you bring. So if you come with reasonable demands and assurance all clear on your end, it helps a lot esp if you're a crowd unfriendly, overpaid no hoper (vs GGG) from a division below. Or go grab a mando spot, there's 3 to go around. I'd rather see Lara vs Heiland or Tureano or Jacobs than Vanes 2, or Zaveck or Delvin

Nobody under Smw-Lhw is good enough to make a foty contender vs GGG. Lara met his match vs a shot Angulo. But against fighters a bit more capable, he's awful to watch. Even Cuban posters here were disowning him after that Canelo chokejob.
