    Deceptive punchers

What boxers, at any time, do you guys think were deceptive punchers. Meaning, they probably didn't have a high KO ratio, but when they hit people you could see that they had power. They could either visibly shake people with one punch, knock them down, or knock them out... Even though they may not have done that too often. Two people that come to mind are Demarcus Corley and Kendal Holt. Corley showed power up against Mayweather and Cotto, among others. He did have them both visibly shaken with just one punch. Cotto was hit with a right hook at the top of his head and his legs turned into spaghetti. Keep in mind, before he fought Corley, he fought Randal Bailey, who is a recognized puncher, and he took his best shot in the same area without appearing to be phased by it. He also took Zab and Mosley's best shots later on. Kendal Holt showed power in shaking up Demetrius Hopkins, knocking down Bradley twice, and knocking down Diaz with what appeared to be a series of pitty-pat punches. I also think that Ali had deceptive power.

Who else can you guys think of?

Floyd is a good call. He doesnt just have great snap but he's got a bit of strength and stiffness to his punches at times. Andre Ward can punch a bit too but in both cases they're very accurate, sharp, and fast so not seeing them coming helps them but they can obviously punch.

I think Khan is a deceptive puncher to the body.

I give Leo a ton of s hit after the rigo thing but he's not full accumulation and very deceptive imo. He can lay it on you with single shots when he sits down on them.

Tim Bradley isnt so much deceptive as it is bad form but we'll see him buzz a guy sometimes when he puts it all together..and not just scrubs

Pacquiao, visibly is a deceptively powerful puncher. Obviously we know he can crack (and hell, its even over rated at the same time..at least in 147) but dude can land a bomb on you with his body twisted the wrong way and a foot off the ground while at the same time chasing or pulling away from a guy. A lot of the fighters end up saying its not the power but the speed with Pac but he's brilliant at hurting you when he logicall shouldnt be able to hurt you.

JMM very deceptive...or maybe it was perceived as not being as good as it is. Pac fans can hate on it but JMM could always crack and he wasn't always given credit for it despite the nickname.

I think that Rigo is an especially great example. His fights seem mostly boring because nobody wants to exchange with him, and he doesn't force people into exchanges.

Jermain Taylor and Shane Mosley come to mind as legit power punchers that no-one ever lists as such (well, Mosley occasionally).

I think any boxer that forces other fighters into a shell clearly has power of some degree. I'm thinking people like Mayweather, Ward and Fury, who have all been called and continue to be called feather fisted by various people. They might not have lights out power but that doesn't mean they can't get the respect of their opponents.
