90% of the fighters I promoted were black, idiot.

And no, I wouldnt promote Andre Ward no matter what you paid me. I quit doing shows because I completely lost interest in it, not because of money, or your moronic assertions that I failed, or blah blah blah. As a matter of fact I cant even go to a show these days without people coming up to me asking "hey T when you coming back?", and things like that. I do take it as a compliment, but Im done with the boxing industry. I wouldnt even promote GGG, because unfortunately nothing in boxing happens in a vacuum and despite how enjoyable it might be to work with Team GGG, you still have to deal with all the other scumbags in the business.......

Everybody is complaining about the choice but missing the main part of the story:

It is possible that Ward could sit, however, because there is very little money to make a fight for him given HBO’s budget constraints. Roc Nation approached Golden Boy about contender Vyacheslav Shabranskyy (16-0, 13 KOs) facing Ward, but they were way apart on the money.
Sergey's fight is being financed by a promoter in Russia. HBO said they'll air the fight on a Monday night. They got that fight for cheap. There was no money for Lomachenko-Walters. Ward took a paycut to make the Barrera fight happen. Crawford-Postol is on PPV. If Ward and Kovalev are fighting on PPV in November you would think HBO would want both of their next fights televised. It would really be nice if both fights were on the same card like HBO used to do it leading up to a big fight. I wouldn't be surprised if Ward-Kovalev PPV is a flop. They setting these two up for failure. What the hell is going on over there? If this is the result of budget cuts just stop showing boxing all together. This is insanity.

Thats not cuz he don't wanna fight more legit guys, thats cuz all the more legit guys are with Haymon & PBC & those fight are harder to make with the HBO/Haymon cold war or whatever is going on. And RNS has more problems cuz apparently there is a much colder war between them & Haymon. Thats just a reality of the circus like atmosphere boxing is in these days with an every man for themselves structure boxing has. Whoever wins between Kov & Ward is gonna have the same problem moving forward more then likely.
Oh believe me, it's not just Ward that I look at and criticize. I criticize my favorite boxers too. GGG/Kovalev shouldn't be ranked that high if they're going to be fighting Wade type of opponents. I honestly wouldn't be upset if people were to put someone like Pacquiao(who's proven) and Rigo higher than both.

none of these are big name fighters? i know you are trolling and all but try harder atleast
Dawson - weight drained, weak past it finished fighter
Kessler - cheated to beat him, headbutt and constantly wrestled him into a TKO stoppage doesn't count
          Arthur Abraham - Overrated
Carl Froch - Wrestled him just like Kessler luckily he didn't manage to make him get pulled out from headbutt injuries.

Serious question. If PBC paid you a licensing fee for a fight on Bounce TV would you do it?

Just checked out some of his fights...he is ok...nothing to write home about. He would get dominated by Ward and possibly stopped. Saw his fight with Gonzalez in its entirety and this guy is AA ball compared to MLB(Ward)....outside of Kov and Stevenson.....there is no competition for Ward at 175

Dude was getting hit with some wide shots and lacks a consistent jab and head movement. He is a decent contender. Doesnt seem like a step up from Barrera, about the same level.

freedom2016-GGG Fan-boy who lacks boxing knowledge and hoped on the flavor of the month(GGG) because he doesn't understand boxing is hit and not get hit.

This makes more sense. Don't expect much from Ward's next opponent. HBO can't afford a top 10 caliber fighter.

You wont believe me, but the answer is no. Starting around 2009 it just got harder and harder for me to dedicate myself to the shows. I pretty much lost all interest in it, and packed it in for good in 2011. I would probably consider doing occasional site work for select people in the industry who I like, such as Gary Shaw or Golden Boy, but to actually act as lead promoter for an event, regardless of who was picking up the tab is pretty much out of the question at this stage of my life.......

Why did Gary Shaw leave Roc Nation? Is it as big a clusterf**k over there as I think it is?
