While Canelo may be bigger than a belt, that doesn't stop him from actually wanting to fight for one.Canelo isn't going after the IBF belt. Canelo is a franchise now. He's about selling out arenas and PPV. He's not about to be held to mandatory obligations fighting the likes of Ryota Murata, Sergiy Derevyanchenko and Hassan N'Dam. He's bigger than belts. The only person with a trinket fascination is GGG because it allows him to fight that level of competition while waiting on a big name fight. He won't go out and get a big name fight on his own. I'll always go back to the Willie Monroe Jr fight because that right there showed me how K2 and GGG are using unification as an excuse. Monroe Jr wasn't a mandatory. They made that fight a little over two weeks after GGG's last fight. That showed me they weren't even trying to make a fight with a big name.
As far as the OP, I wouldn't mind that match-up at all, but according to Kim's tweet, that ship has sailed.Comment

A million for Edwin Rodriguez. 500k for Barrera. 250k for Smith. These no names surprising command a lot of money to fight a guy like Andre Ward.Comment

Shabranskyy vs Ward
Shabranskyy wants to fight Ward. He wants Ward so bad, he agreed to fight for 50k less then Barrera did.Comment

Do you know the total purse HBO is offering for this fight? It was $2.3M for Ward-Barrera. RNS offered Barrera $300K and Main Events was able to get it up to $450K after a successful Twitter meme campaign. I can't imagine the total purse is anywhere near $2.3M this time due to HBO's budget issues.Comment

And Ward gave up some of his purse for to Barrera. I doubt HBO paid $2.3M for that fight. Ward has a high guarantee with RNS. I read somewhere that he wanted the same as Barrera. If that's true, that's fair. RNS probably not trying to pay it and Ward probably tired of cutting into his purse to pay fighters. This will be the third time he's done it.Do you know the total purse HBO is offering for this fight? It was $2.3M for Ward-Barrera. Full amount is not being disclosed to us. If it was, we would be happy with a 25/75 split. I don't want boxing fans out there think Shabrankyy being greedy. He would fight Ward for $20 if that was the fights budget.Comment

Hmmm. Am I misinterpreting? Sounding like you're something to do with Slava's team there. Is the 400k offer that's been mentioned roughly correct?Comment
