Do you like the WBA "Super Champion" concept?

I do not like it very much.

For instance, if Mares wins against Cuéllar he will be WBA World Champion again while Leo Santa Cruz is the EBA Super Champion.

I don't like too much this concept.

WBA is the only organization that has got two world champions right? (I'm not counting interim champions).

Yes and no, for the simple fact that the "super champion" was the WBA's fix to an issue that a sanctioning body would really come across; a champion getting dinged with an injury, though not wanting to fuss around with vacant belts or a logjam.

The WBA "super champion", in basically every division outside of 140 and arguably 126, has claim to the mantle of best fighter at the weight.

The "super champion" allows for a more orderly process that eliminates the risk of things like what happened with the IBF belt at heavyweight.

These are two entirely different things? How can you ask in one question? I don't like WBA super thing, for the reason that it allows to call mandatory challenger "regular champion". But he is not a champion by any stretch. He is just first in line to fight the champion.

Lineal is a different story. I kind of like it, but catchweights are ruining this concept. IMO if lineal was lost in a catchweight, let alone champion went up or down division, it should not count as lineal passage to the winner. If this was the last fight of the previous champion, then new lineage shall be established. But this is just my opinion.

So "regular champion" is not a World Champion?

For instance: Carl Frampton is the super champion right now; Cuéllar is the regular Champion.

Can anyone explain this to me please?

No, it's a BS money grabbing concept. They simply put bells & whistles on their interim title to make a 'Regular Champ'. The argument that it allows a 'Super Champ' deferred mandatories is a laugh too, b/c the 'Regular Champ' never makes mandatories anyways - Danny Jacobs has been champ 2 years, not one mandatory......

Thanks that is what I wanted to know.

For instace, Carl Frampton is the real champion and Cuéllar is kind of an interim champion.

            Now I understand better.

            Thanks a lot.

Only when the Super Champion obviously will never fight his mandatory (i.e. Mayweather/Lara)

It's a load of crap. It was bad when there were 4 world champions in one division, now there's 1 sanctioning body with 2 world champions? When's it going to end?
