    Mayweather's Brilliant Fake Retirement Strategy

Gotta give props to Floyd for using fake retirements to duck and create a fake undefeated record.

Step 1. Announce that he is making a fake retirement fight. This justifies him fighting a number 30 ranked fighter named Andre Berto. Afterall, having it being his last fight, he deserves an easy exit right? His fans would understand.

Step 2. Announce a "comeback". Well, it being a comeback, a "tuneup" against a weak opponent is justified, right?

Back to back surefire ducks and guaranteed fake extensions of a fake undefeated record. Brilliant!

He is using it now. He used it years ago to duck prime Cotto and Margarito, and younger Mosley....join Dancing with the Stars (in retirement)...then fight a blown up jr. welterweight.

The dude should just leave. No one wants him around the sport.

        Nice try.

        http://espn.go.com/sports/boxing/news/story?id=2420382

Right there. Bob Arum himself said Floyd would have fought Cotto, Hatton and Margarito as long as he was guaranteed $20 million to fight Oscar........................................ and Bob said no.

        Nice try though.

          What about Shane's toothache?

You can't expect honesty or actual facts when a poster that doesn't like Floyd is making a Floyd thread.

That said, I have always felt he was going to fight again.

Oh yes, Shane's toothache. Who can forget that? He also had a vacation planned, so that is a great reason not to fight someone.

How can you say that when he still generates the most money? People still pay to see him more than any other fighter so they obviously want him around the sport.

He faked retirement before. But this time he retired but is contemplating coming back as people asked him nicely to fight maybe 50th and beyond. That is if he still hasn't ticked off wish list like fight in UK etc

Berto was OK just to have a break from tough opponents and get a breather, as long as it wasn't last fight.

Did you happen to see what happened after May 2015? No one gives a flying phuck about that Women beater anymore.
