Comments Thread For: Garcia: If Golovkin Will Face Floyd at 154, Then Face Canelo at 155

Respected trainer Robert Garcia believes IBO/WBA/IBF middleweight champion Gennady 'GGG' Golovkin (35-0, 32KOs) should bite the bullet and agree to face Saul 'Canelo' Alvarez (46-1-1, 32KOs), who holds the WBC middleweight title, at a catch-weight of 155-pounds.

I think once the Canelo/Khan farce is done, and GB offers the fight at 155 lbs, K2 will accept. Official negotiations have yet to begin and a CW is a major part. Why would K2 go ahead and make that concession off the bat?

If anything I think money talk kills this fight. GB is offering Khan $6mill guaranteed, yet Oscar was talking 90/10 split (again ahead of official negotiations). The real question could be, would GGG accept less money to fight Canelo than Khan got?

i want canelo to fight GGG at 160, not just to make the fight happen but because all the GGG fan boys will whine and make excuses when canelo beats him at 155. if they fight at 160, the GGG fan boys will still make up some excuse, not sure what but they have already shown how ****** they are, so nothing will surprise me.

... Well, the 'sophistes' aren't a few these days...
... FMJr still is the WBC 'champion emeritus' at 154, while Canelo is the WBC champ at 160 and had GGG as mandatory just next...

Therefore, as the 154 WBC belt is vacant, FMJr may fight GGG for that strap... while Canelo has to comply with his mandatory at 160 -- not 152, 154.5, 155 a.s.o.

"If Golovkin Will Face Floyd at 154, Then Face Canelo at 155 "

              That's pretty much ******.
Any person making this statement is either a biased hypocrit or a ******.

Let's act like Floyd and Canelo are the same weight + Ginger being also and ATG.

Floyd is a 147 lbs fighter SO 154 IS A CW BETWEEN 147 AND 160.

Canelo is a 155 lbs fighter so a CW BETWEEN 155 AND 160 WOULD BE 157 OR 158.

              Dudes should work their mathematics.

I don't agree with anyone regarding a catchweights for a title fight, but I understand what Roberto is saying here, if GGG can make 154 for Money then he sure can make 155.

I like how pressure is being put on both sides. It makes me more confident the fight will happen in the fall. I think Oscar is waiting on the PPV numbers. If this card does Angulo/Lara numbers he'll pull the trigger and make the fight. If it does north of 500K he'll marinate it some more.
