Comments Thread For: Bute Encouraged by Jack Draw, DeGale Loss: I'm Not Quitting

It's been a long time since Lucian Bute has been on top. It's been nearly four years since Bute lost his world title, after all, when he suffered a crushing fifth-round technical knockout defeat against Carl Froch back in May 2012.

Bute looked like he forgot how to box properly for like the first 11 rounds of the fight last night.

He was throwing punches from the opposite side of his body, literally. He wasn't shifting properly and ended up arm slapping basically.

he was jabbing with his left hand from the southpaw stance
, let that sink in for a second

Idk wtf I was watching. Lol. in the 12th round he finally started to sit on his punches and throw properly. It was weird

The only way he was in it was the terrible judges from mexico( still don't get why a mex went 2 DC) & Texas...If Jack could punch, really piunch, he had him in the 5th...Bute didn't wake up till # 10, just as vs Chunky....2 little, 2 late...he ' s out of the picture till after Jack vs James, a year 4 him...

I thought Bute gave a good effort against both DeGale and Jack, not enough to win but he was able to provide reasonable opposition to the top guys in the division. He has a good home base in Montreal and if he can do reasonably well against top guys no reason to really stop. Him against either Dirrell would be good and if he could somehow get Sturm in the ring that wold be even better for him. Stevenson at 175 is probably a fight he would get beat up in but would also be decent money and about the biggest opportunity he could get.

Bute has always had a strange style. You can go back 10 years and see it. He hasn't quite got his 2007-2011 form back, but at least he's working on it.

Yep. Dirrells, Sturm, Grove, maybe even Abraham or Murray.
