The computer doesn't count ducks and mismatches. It doesn't care about home town decisions, or interfering refs. Just numbers. Good enough for government work, but not for my money.

True, the rankings are probably just determined by an algorithm. Numbers don't lie, but they also don't tell the whole story. Boxrec probably doesn't account for robberies, type of win, etc.

But one fight? I don't remember how the P4P lists were 25 yrs ago (were they even around back then) but did everybody suddenly think Buster Douglas was P4P #1 after he beat Tyson [or best fighter in the world] or did they assume Tyson had an off day and Douglas fought his best fight ever?

My point is, the BoxRec P4P listings are not reflective of most hard core boxing fans opinions on P4P. How many posters here have Thurman in their top 10 P4P ?

Thats partially cuz Tyson had ridiculous star power. People were giving him a chance to beat Lewis late in his career when I thought he had little shot and made excuses for everything he didn't do right. I'm not saying Jezreel automatically assumes the same position as Uchiyama had per se but #30 P4P doesn't seem unfair. If that position is wrong he'll end up losing and moving down.

Outside of HWs, I bet a very high % of fighters who were not ranked P4P who beat a P4P top 10 fighter were moved into the top 10 position afterwards.
