Canelo fans, can you explain why he won't fight Golovkin?

    Let's start with some perspective.

Canelo IS the lineal middleweight champion, but how?

Canelo calls himself a jr middleweight.

So you have a jr. middleweight becoming the lineal by beating another jr. middleweight,
who in turn became lineal by beating still another guy who was really a jr. middleweight.

The last true middleweight to be lineal was Kelly Pavlik.

So of course there might be a problem with a jr. middleweight who has never faced a true middleweight having his first test at the weight be the guy some consider the best
    160 lber there is.

In a perfect world, Canelo would get in 2 or 3 fights with the exact same caliber of fighter lil g has been fighting the last few outings, then meet him in a showdown.

But, I am willing to bet a lot of lil g fans would have a huge problem with Canelo fighting Dominic Wade, David Lemieux, and Willie Monroe first.

The upshot is, Canelo won't get the chance he should get to become acclimated to the weight class because of the way the WBC conjured lil g as the mandatory.

So, the fair answer is the catchweight.

This of course is made even more fair when lil g's very public willingness to go one pound lower for a man who defeated Canelo is factored in.

But, regardless of what happens here is something you can take to the bank and live off the interest...

The WBC will find a way to keep Canelo happy.

And that means, fight or no fight, Saul will still be lineal at 160.

Just how did you come up with this conclusion? The "lineal" is what it is, and BJS is no part of this...

Alvarez has been fighting 153-155 for almost 5 years now; he won't be able to keep making that cut forever, but he makes it fine now.

By the time he sees his 27th birthday, Alvarez will be fully ensconced as a 160lb fighter. if you can't wait that long, tough luck.
If it is so easy for him to make 155 then why would he not go down 1 pound to the expected weight? It's obvious he struggles getting down that low, for god sakes he rehydrates in the mid 170's.
Can you imagine if Golovkin or JCC Jr were forcing guys two divisions smaller to a 161 lb catchweight. The weights irrelevant doe

No I think Oscar and Canelo will throw a wrench in the negotiations and purposely make it go up in smoke

Because there were no full world titles at 154 for him to vie for. With no real reason to need to be at 154, and the star power to make whatever fight he wants (pretty much), Alvarez has chosen to give himself that extra pound.

Yes, Alvarez does rehydrate to the 170's; at all of 25 years old, that type of boil down is still manageable. (note: Erislandy Lara, a fighter who has been at junior middleweight his entire professional career, walked into the ring at 170 for his fight with Canelo also).

Lastly, Amir Khan fights at 147, and is coming up to 155 to fight Alvarez. We're talking about 8 pounds.

Golovkin dragged up Gabriel Rosado 6 pounds, and nobody had any issue with that.

GGG agreed to a catchweight for the fight. Rosado passed on it and went all the way up to 160.

Doesn't change the fact that Golovkin dragged up a guy who hadn't ever fought north of 154 at that point in time.

What's good for the goose is good for the gander, right?

You add that the only names coming out of K2's mouth, beside Saunders, have been Alvarez(155), Cotto(155), Brook(147), Pacquiao(150), and Mayweather(152) and I'd avoid all the shade, tbh, especially knowing that K2 seems to be openly interested in staging a fight against Kell Brook and I doubt that they go below 157 for that fight.

Simply not true. Like most of the junk you post here.

Risk/reward. Canelo can still make a lot of money fighting what would seem to be easier fights. But that window is about closed. Demand is too high for the Golovkin fight.
