I begs to differ. Quigg can get that Rigo money, I know he's not scared and it would sell BIG.

But, yes, the fight should have taken place.
He didn't pull out, there was visa/work permit problem.

But you're right, Rigo is very inactive. Some of the champions might not want to fight him because they can make more money elsewhere and less risk i.e Frampton v Quigg, completely understandable.

But i find it hard to believe they can at find at least some top 15 or top 20 opponents that will fight him. They have nothing to lose and it's still a more high profile fight then them fighting bums too.

Yeah his career hasn't been helped by fighters not wanting to fight him. But he and whoever is handling his career now and in the past have also failed to do a good job.

I actually think Quigg would take the fight though. He seems like someone who isn't a ducker. I understand him taking the Frampton fight, it was a big money fight but i think that fight with Rigo could be made. But again, will Hearn put his man in with Rigo when he generates no money and he might be able to pick up a title again against a lesser opponent for similar money...

In an ideal world, the best should be fighting the best. Without a doubt.

In this instance, I can SORT of understand him being phased out, and take it as 50-50. Because while 50% is a disgraceful "too much risk, too little reward" business decision, the other 50% is the fact that Rig is like a human Mogadon. His highight reel could cure insomnia.

No, unfortunately it wouldn't sell big.
The big money fight in that division (122) was Quigg and Frampton and now it has happened.

I actually think he's slightly overrated by some around here. His skills are excellent but there's definite flaws to his game. I've never seen a supposed ring genius dropped by journeymen like he has been. He's only fought about 2 fighters in the top 40 of his division. The Donaire win was very good but even he was on the slide, but it was a good win all the same. That's not to say he can't beat all the other fighters, he probably can but i don't see this real elite genius. Maybe it's his age, he's not young and maybe his best days were in the amateurs, where his style maybe more suited anyway.

Anyway Anorak, some people recently have accused me of being you. :*******:

I agree, some people think all the others have to do is turn up. The guy's getting older (as opposed to other boxers who get younger, of course) and is frequently inactive. Like you say, he probably WOULD win, but it's not certain.

As for being mistaken for me, I don't know if you should take that as a compliment or an insult.

He is moving up and is already signed for a BIG FIGHT and a Big Payday so yeah it is really no need to look back for him.

Eddie Hearn will be pleased with this news. Scott Quigg will somehow become IBF #1 in the rankings and gets to fight for the vacant belt.

You know because Eddie loves those IBF belts and the ****ty mandatory fights that come with it.

So we can forget about Rigo? The big fight is over, might as well retire? There is still money there, lots of it in the US. Put this on a nice card, I like Quigg's chances. Rigo is getting long in the tooth and Quigg won't quit coming.
