Kell Brook a possibility for Golovkin according to Loeffler

We know Brook's a big WW. He's an inch shorter and inch less reach than GGG. He'll have faster hands, and good power at WW. Against another strong fighter in Porter (who turned pro at MW and competed as an amateur at MW), Brook was able to out muscle Porter for opportunities.
I like Brook/Golovkin better than Lara/Golovkin, but I think both are executions. GGG's not a one-dimensional slugger who'll become lost when you throw him in with a skilled guy who has a speed advantage. They both lack the power to keep him off.
The best thing about this fight is it'll raise his profile in the UK, and help make fights with Saunders, Eubank, and what I think will be his career defining fight - DeGale. -

But yeah, GGG would most likely smoke him also.Comment

I have little doubt Brook would beat Liam Smith right now, it's a fight I'd love to see him take to raise his own profile. But I guess I could see him beating the same version of Macklin, Geale, Proksa, and maybe outboxing Lemieux and Stevens. I think Brook would have a lot of trouble with Murray's reach though.
Granted, all those fights would be far more difficult for Brook than they were for GGG.Comment

lol the only reason anybody would want this fight to happen is if they hated Brook. He would take a vicious beating and get stopped within 5.Comment

Murray maybe, but even Brook is not much smaller and has more power and definitely better skills.I have little doubt Brook would beat Liam Smith right now, it's a fight I'd love to see him take to raise his own profile. Obviously brook wouldn't smoke them all like GGG has.Comment

Brook is at 147, GGG is at 160. Its not happening. Brook isn't gonna run from challenges at 147 to run into a heavier challenge at 160. And based on Brook's title defenses it for sure seems like he's holding his ground + title til he can get a big winnable fight like vs Khan & if he wins that then he'll probably throw himself into a big fight that is more even, but it won't be GGG.Comment

Lol, Tom takes a shot at Canelo
Gennady Golovkin is open to a fight with Kell Brook if a weight class can be agreed, promoter Tom Loeffler has revealed.
IBF welterweight champion Brook would be interested in moving as high as 157lbs for a catchweight fight against a big-name opponent, his promoter Eddie Hearn said last month.
Golovkin's representative Loeffler has responded by challenging Brook to follow in the footsteps of legendary welterweights who have made the move to middleweight.
"If Kell is really serious, it would be something to discuss," Loeffler exclusively told Sky Sports.
"Brook is one of the best fighters in the sport. He's at 147lbs and Gennady is at 160 so the only question we have is about the weight, nothing else.
"A lot of great welterweights have fought at middleweight - a classic example is Sugar Ray Leonard, who moved up to 160lbs to beat Marvin Hagler.
"Any comments we have made about Brook have not been disparaging, we have a lot of respect for him.
"His win over Shawn Porter was fantastic - I rated Porter as one of the best welterweights in the division so for Brook to come to America and beat him speaks volumes."
Golovkin, the WBA 'Super' and IBF middleweight champion, is the mandatory challenger to the WBC belt that Saul 'Canelo' Alvarez will defend against Amir Khan in May, and has made it clear his eventual title shot will not be held at a catchweight.
Loeffler says Golovkin would only consider moving up a weight, rather than down, and would admire Brook if the Sheffield puncher also chose to leave the comfort of his welterweight home.
"If you outgrow your division, I don't consider it a major accomplishment if you move up," Loeffler said. "What is a big accomplishment is fighting outside of your division when you don't have to.
"Kell clearly can make welterweight so if he ever moved up to middleweight to challenge Gennady, that would be a big statement. Kell is the type of fighter that I would give the most respect to."
Golovkin recently extended his unbeaten run to 35-0 with a second-round stoppage of Dominic Wade, while Brook holds a perfect 36-0 record having dispatched Kevin Bizier in similar fashion.Comment

Regardless of anything, Brook would be the best guy he's fought by a wide margin.
If they can do 156, I'm cool with it.Comment
