I think you got a better view on TV, but I think you got a better chance to see the real damage felt by boxers & the impact of punches when you are in the judges position. So its a bit of a mixed bag. I think ringside with monitors would be the ideal best option to get the best overall view.
they should sit in a elevated chair like Joe Cortez has suggested and his study has proved it is more beneficial that way to score more accurately
"Cortez decided the best way to determine whether his idea was practical was to conduct a study. He invited eight experienced judges to watch a four-round boxing exhibition from both the traditional and elevated positions and provide feedback on their perspectives.
The judges watched from one of six positions around the ring, three in the standard positions and three in the elevated positions. Cortez worked eight judges into the rotation.
They were instructed to record with clickers punches that they could NOT see clearly from the position they were in. The data provided by the judges (see the accompanying chart) seemed to prove that they could see the action much more clearly from above.
For example, the judges who rotated into the first standard position indicated: They were unable to see clearly 17 punches in the first round, 7 in the second, 16 in the third and 13 in the fourth.
The judges in the elevated position on the same side of the ring reported much fewer punches they could not see clearly: 1 in the first round, 2 in the second, 1 in the third and 1 in the fourth."
but a combination of monitor and their viewpoint should suffice. I remeber ESPN FNF used to have a judges eye view of the fight so you can see how they see the fight but that didnt last long.
Judges should be made to watch fights in separate, isolated rooms, in HD, with no sound and no replay. This would force them to focus on the three criteria for judging a fight. Clean punching, effective aggressiveness, and ring generalship. This experience would fix a lot of what's wrong with judging a fight in person. The view from outside of the ring is terribly flawed. They sit too low for one, they are influenced by the crowd, and they are human. LoL. Judges are about as bad as "compu-box", which is a joke. Smh. We have the technology so why not use it? What is one of the main reasons we want to see an event live??? The EXPERIENCE" of it. Get me? How can you not be influenced by all of that noise? Even when a fighter misses, the crowd goes nuts and you get chills. Judges are human and should have to focus more on the three criteria.

Reason: word errors.
