Comments Thread For: WBC Refuses To Sanction Fights in Ontario Over Weighin Rules

The World Boxing Council has been communicating with the boxing authorities of the Province of Ontario, Canada, for several years. The WBC considers the Ontario Athletic Commission's boxing regulations to be dangerous for the participants. Accordingly, the WBC has pleaded with the OAC to comply with the established world safety standards applicable to professional boxing.

What needs 2 b done, Sulaiman, is do weighins day after official weigh ins w/ no more than 10 pounds rehydrated...ie: alvarez who goes 2 above '70 when fighting @ JMM...2 much size/wt advantage...

Agree 100% with the ontario commission about the same day weigh in but not the limited material on a fighters hand

If Canelo vs Khan were same day weigh in, I'd bet on Khan.

They supposedly do something similar but it's no more than 10% of your body weight, which would mean if a fight is 155 you can't add more than 15.5 pounds (170.5) but there seems to be inconsistency (as usual with the WBC) as to when/where exactly this rule applies.

I live in Toronto, Ontario. This area rarely has any world title fights. The last one was when Stevenson defended vs Karpency on Spike TV last September, and that was the first one in quite a while. Best fights for fans around here are Montreal Bell Centre and Turning Stone Casino in Verona, NY.
