Why do you seem to dislike the guy so much? Yea he got KTFO a couple times but atleast he has the balls to go up in weight to make big fights unlike lots of fighters these days.
He moved up to fight the biggest star left in boxing. Anyone would do the same.
Alexander win. I realise that has been dimished by Alexander losing his next one to a middling fighter but he had no rough moments in that fight and won every round and looked very good.
Maidana is his best win on paper but he was a whisker from being stopped in the 10th and I reckon over here he might have been stopped.
I would give him more respect if he fought top fighters at 147....He has nothing to lose here..when he gets stopped he will just blame the weight and get a pass
Maybe, but atleast he had the balls to do it. And who knows maybe he will pull it off somehow if he manages to protect his glass jaw.
Maidana for sure. Judah was an ok win but he was past prime. I felt he lost to Peterson but some thought he won, it was close. Paulie is a decent win i suppose.
I think the point is, all these fights were about 5 years ago.
In terms of recent fights, Alexander lost to a real journeyman the fight after Khan which probably shows you where he was at the time. And he had a close fight with Algieri...can you see any real top welterweight going that close with Algieri? I like Chris but he just isn't top level despite getting big fights.
If you had to look at his career so far and look at it objectively from this very point, you would have to say he peaked around 5 years ago. Maybe he will get more good wins and become better but as it stands, it's not unfair to say he looked at his best around 2010-2011.
So essentially, evidence suggests that Canelo is defending his MW belt against a guy who was still fighting 144 catchweights a few fights ago and looks 5 years past his best. Ha.
