Deal with the facts. Golovkin is selling twice as many tickets as Ward in his home town. Tickets for a GGG fight are priced higher. Furthermore, it's a known fact that Ward is giving away tickets for free almost every time.

By the way, you'rel living on an island - at least in your mind. Golovkin has also endorsement deals outside of the States. For example with the second biggest bank in Kasachstan and the Expo 2017. Jordan is probably paying him peanuts compared to that money. But I'm talking to a ******, so what can I expect...

So you're criticizing Golovkin for selling all 16.000 respectively 21.000 tix including the cheap ones, while giving Ward respect for not selling any $25 tickets, because he can't even fill the two lower bowls in the arena?

The Forum was only staged for 12k seats for Golovkin's fight; Oracle Arena can host 21k, with the lower bowl likely holding 13k-14k seats.

If Golovkin was really that guy, K2 would staged the full 17k that The Forum holds, priced things competitively across the full building and seen what type of business Golovkin really does.

Not sure why the gate numbers are no longer reported, but Golovkin, on his 16k tickets for the Wade fight, likely did less business than Ward did on his 8k tickets for the Dawson fight, without much doubt.

Golovkin/Wade sold 16,353 tickets. If you go conservative and say average ticket price was $50, that's over $800k gate. I imagine it did a over that b/c I imagine average ticket price was greater than $50. Merchandise sells for this event alone did over $90k.


As far as staging goes, they did what you're supposed to do based on past events. Golovkin/Monroe did 12,300, so they staged for a little beyond that. Then when it started exceeding those, they upped it. That's what you're supposed to do.

You're reaching with this over price and see what happens crap. Alvarez/Cotto did that and struggled to sell tickets for a venue that holds less than 14k, and the same thing is happening with Alvarez/Khan where now they have to down size the arena. There were reports that they added a large number of $10-30 tickets, suggesting they opened up the top rows. That significantly lowered the avg ticket price since the top ticket was $400.

I honestly don't know what the gate was since that information is rarely available. The only verifiable number we do get is the attendance. Cut the average ticket price down to $30, and you're still looking at a $500k gate. I think we can both agree it wasn't $30 though, more likely $50, which is a conservative estimate and why I used it.

My guess is they lost at the gate and HBO/K2 had to come out of pocket a bit. No biggie-short term loss for long term gain since win keeps the Canelo fight alive and that, IMO, will do significant numbers.
