What I've found a little strange in the build up to this one is Khan's insistence that he's the fighter with the better skill set. I don't see it, and Amir has the added disadvantage that he's had to overlay those ingrained neurological pathways with new techniques. That task hasn't been completed (if it ever could) and his bad habits will resurface at points during the fight.
Amir's good when he's allowed to dictate the tempo of the fight and ride roughshod over his opponents timing, he doesn't have the grasp of timing that Mayweather and Lara have that enabled them to cause Canelo so many problems. Alvarez has learnt from those fights and looks to have improved his own timing, ability to counter and punch selection.
So whilst its good that Team Canelo are preparing for an opponent that can pick his shots well, it's likely to be Amir whose advantage (in speed) is nullified because Alvarez has better timing and applies it intelligently. Once Amir gets ahead of himself, which we have to be honest and say he does in every fight, he'll revert to throwing high volume combos with no thought behind them. That's what Canelo is banking on. As soon as Khan plants his feet and throws more than two shots at a time then we'll see who is the more skilled of the two.
