GGG is going to get the belt.. But he won't get the payday nor the name he needs!! He will get awarded a vacated WBC title & keep fighting those guys for 1.5 mil at 160... Or he can shed a couple pounds for a CW WBC title fight with Canelo, make 9-10 Mil and win the title ! Sheesh, it's only 3 pounds!!

The same reason he would shed 5 or 6 pounds for Floyd (money) should be the reason he should shed 4 pounds vs Canelo (money)! Floyd fight he makes 9-10 mil... w/ Canelo he makes 9-10 mil!!

Canelo already weighs more on fight night than GGG and GGG only weighs 2 or 3 pounds more than the SMW limit, so I think it's a poor comparison.

Yet, several times, they both proved to be a level above the people in their weight divisions.

It's what GGG is doing now.
This, GGG is a superb boxer puncher but isn't a big 6 footer middleweight like Hopkins.

I think GGG should adopt a strategy of career just like Hagler, and rule 160 for the next 5 years then retire.

He could face in theory at 160 Canelo, Jacobs, Cotto, Lee, Quillin, Saunders, Charlo, Lara, Eubank Jr, Trout, N Dam.

Then maybe 1 or 2 superfights at 168 facing Ward or the next future 168 ruler.

        Would be a solid task.

He needs to stop fighting his mandos "friday nights" fighters.

But 175 would maybe be too much, there is a gap of 15 pounds between 160 and 175.

Floyd took years to move up from 130 to 147 wich represent 17 pounds.

If you are not going to go for greatness, then just stay in your lane and stop talking about being an all-time great. Many fighters have moved up in weight to try to be great. Some succeed, others don't. Khan is trying this in his next fight with Canelo, who generally fights smaller fighters moving up in weight. After the Khan fight 9 of Canelo's last 13 opponents would've been smaller fighters moving up in weight, and sometimes moving up two weight classes.

If GGG really wanted to fight Ward, he would do it at 168, since they claim that he is one of the greatest fighters ever, and would fight "anyone" from 154 to 168. Otherwise, just stay at middleweight and fight other middleweights, instead of offering to fight 'some' 168 pounders and not others (Golovkin's team tried to make a fight with Froch and Chavez Jr. at the full 168). If GGG is really knocking out 175 pounders in sparring, then Ward at 168 should not have been more of a problem than Froch or Chavez Jr at 168, So they opened the door to this criticism when they claimed they would fight anyone in 4 different weight classes.

Gennady Golovkin, who might be the best middleweight -- hell, one of the best boxers, pound for pound -- who you don't know, was at Madison Square Garden scouting Sergio Martinez Saturday night.

And if Canelo does not want to fight at 160, he should give up his bogus middleweight belt (which was won at a catchweight to begin with) and campaign at 154, since they claim that he is really a 154 pounder (which we all know is bullshyt). The limit for middleweight is 160, and a mandatory does not have to agree on a lower weight.
Speak for yourself, your post was somewhat decent until you claimed that he wasn't a 154 fighter. Again, how many times has Canelo fought at 160?

And it's funny how Pac fans brag about Pac being the only 8 division world champ despite him winning some of those paper belts at catchweights.

Very bad comparison by Gomez. In fact it's a dumb comparison.

The issue is, with a lot of these fighters getting paid so much for fighting bums, is there even an incentive to fight for GGGs belts? how can he get them in the ring?

I do agree that he has too many names like Wade, Ishida and so on. He needs to avoid that level of competition.

I hope GGG and DeGale keep winning and unifying to such an extent that the 2 fight next year. That's a great match up.

What?? How is he asking Canelo to move up a division when Canelo is supposedly the MW champion?

Yep. Definitely enough blame to go around. Don't tell the GGG hardcore fans that though. They ignore GGGs claim to want any fights 154-168. AGAIN:

Golovkin is not the lineal Super-Middleweight champion.
