The guy did well against a Chocolatito that wasn't 100 percent but still game. With PR fans are so quick to praise some of their overrated fighters I think it's a good moment to praise a very good boxer that came to win, never gave up, and showed good boxing.
The Arroyo appreciation thread.

Gonzalez won pretty easily down the stretch and just showed that he wasn't at his best, for whatever reason, rather than Arroyo being anything special or even good. He's been beaten before and he got beaten (easily) again.
Nothing to write home about. -
Arroyo didn't get blown out and some of the subtle things that he was doing alongside with his punching didn't let Chocolatito do his thing during the whole round.
If you watch him for now on you know when he is hurt when he pauses for periods of time. His poker face is good but his body language wasn't
No saying in no way the Roman is not a dynamo in thereComment

Arroyo is a talented fighter, if he doesn't end up being a world champion it will only be because of the quality of the top fighters around his weight class as he is better than at least a dozen current world champions in the sport. He's an educated slugger with a very powerful left hook who can actually box well, which is not surprising seeing as he was a gold medalist at the 2009 World Championships. The way Chocolatito defeated him only goes to show what a special talent Chocolatito is.Comment

...........
One year off from the ring, boxing with a missing boot sole, fighting one of the best P4P guys...he did very well. The guy was game till the end. Chocolatito is tuff as nails, he took everything Arroyo threw at him. Arroyo has nothing to be ashamed he will get his chance for a championship again.

Gonzalez beat him easily in the end in terms of the overall fight and scorecard, but it was still a tough fight and the first fight that's gone the distance in a long time for him.
Considering what people were saying about Arroyo and Gonzalez for taking the fight however, this should prove that it was actually a very good 'stay busy' fight. I'd been saying that Arroyo was much better than people were giving him credit for and would give RG a hard, tough battle, even if I didnt think he'd win.
I do think that Arroyo will prove his worth over the next few years and be a top guy in the division if/when RG leaves for another division or bigger fights and this will end up being a good win for Gonzalez.
In fact, quite a few of Gonzalez' wins are underrated. Particularly Yaegashi at the moment. Three division champ, was current champ when Gonzalez beat him, and is a current champ again winning another title straight after Gonzalez beat him. Very good fighter and people just rule it out. He's fighting good fighters, it just happens that someone he's already beat clearly is also doing well now and it'd be a great fight. Until that happens though, these fights he's taking are excellent ones to clean the division out and truly show his dominance.
People talk about GGG as if he's on the same level, but their opposition doesn't even come remotely close to comparing.Last edited by BennyST; 04-24-2016, 07:55 PM.Comment

I'm not saying Aroyo was bad, I'm just saying Roman wasn't at his best. It was more a case of the latter not bringing his A game, rather than the challenger being very good.Arroyo didn't get blown out and some of the subtle things that he was doing alongside with his punching didn't let Chocolatito do his thing during the whole round.
