They are not really doing the right thing.
And Kovalev did not say that he supports them, he said that he understands.
Not sure they would take that fight now, even if lil'G pulled in better numbers.
160 is Golovkin's territory, 155 is Canelo's... neither side wants to give the other guy an advantage..... and the weight definitely matters, or else Golovkin would just fight Canelo at 155..... especially after all that Mayweather talk.
If he refuses to negotiate with Canelo, it will be plainly obvious that he was talking **** about Mayweather.
And it will add a nasty context to the 164 cw demand on Ward as well.Comment

While we are on that subject..... Golovkin will fight Froch at 172..... https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=AhXeD9vlRSQ
And yet he demanded 164 from Ward.....
Promoter Tom Loeffler of K2 Promotions, who handle IBO/WBA middleweight champion Gennady "GGG" Golovkin (33-0, 30 KOs), says a fight can certainly be worked out
Whats up with that " outrageous demand " ?

I think the thing most fans saw was GGGs people or he himself saying he'd take on anyone 154-168 or there abouts. Now GGG whines the loudest saying no way.... 160 or no fight. You can't make claims, then back away acting like you never made claims. Most fans don't like that. And the only ones with bad memory on that particular issue are GGG fans.

Exactly.
From what I read, Kov was just starting training camp when GGG came along to spar. But if you wanna believe 2016 Kov loses to 2016 GGG go for it. It's a fantasy fight anyway that probably will never happen, but hey go for it if you wanna, no worries.
That is often the case.
People put waaay too much emphasis on one-off sparring sessions.
That is exactly what happened with Mayweather/Spadafora..... also, Spadafora's "success" in that sparring session is over-rated..... he did better than expected against a top guy who wasn't in camp, that's all.
People who think that 25yo Canelo = 19yo Canelo, are being a bit silly.
And it is absurd to insinuate that Golovkin will jump 2 divisions and walk through Kovalev, when he refused to fight Ward unless he weighed no more than 164..... both Golovkin and Kovalev know that fight will never happen.Comment

Bud you're missing the point. Canelos team don't want it soon, at any weight. They've said as muchComment

No they're saying a CW is negotiable if Canelo vacates. It's only fair, right? You can't be a MW champ (never mind lineal) if too small for 160. If can't go above 155 then gtfo and back to 154.

Only a very small child would believe that.
If they thought they could beat Canelo at 155, they would just fight him.Comment

Exactly. I agree with everything... it is funny though how some fans think there's never been anyone like GGG, and that he'll never lose. Maybe they forget he's 34, and age + history will soon be his biggest foes ever. No denying he's very talented, but that won't last too many years longer.
Yep I agree, he is an outstanding fighter, no question..... but his career is stagnating..... time to start to live up to that hype.
Like Ward said..... when you got this BIG reputation, you need to get in there and back that thing up..... NOT once, but again, and again, and again..... I am still waiting for him to start.
I'm not missing the point. My points don't include me saying what's wrong or right. Like I said elsewhere on this subject... I'm commenting on the business decision GGG is making regarding this possible fight. GGG isn't being smart potentially upsetting plans. He should realize he's the B side, take the $5-10 mil, either winning it or losing it, and move on to other fights, either at MW or SMW. He's 34 now, and won't see that kind of money ever again for one fight. This is a business first and foremost. At age 54, he'll be glad he wised up, shut up, and took the Canelo fight. Worrying about principal doesn't pay the bills. And also like I've said many times on here... either he or his people said anyone 154-168. He needs to just shut up and sign the contract.:
