By Thomas Gerbasi - As he closed out an amateur career that included a reported 167 wins and several titles and accolades, Dominic Wade was tagged as a future world champion. Wade couldn't even beat Sam Soliman, how is he going to beat GGG? The home crowd in the US was booing that split decision win for Wade that's how bad it was.

Despite 12 losses, Soliman is a very experienced fighter who makes people looks bad, has won the IBF title and has beaten solid guys like Sturm or Bika.

And everybody can have a bad night.

This guy is big and looks skilled.

            Just checked is amateur record:

"He won the Silver Gloves five times, as well as the Golden Gloves and holds the record with Oscar De La Hoya, winning the Silver Gloves the same amount of times.

He has competed numerous times at the Junior Olympics where he won a silver medal. "

No one is saying GGG is unbeatable, just that Wade ain't going to be the one to do it.

Good info on Wade. Didn't realize he had that deep of an amateur background.

Until he met Sam Soliman who effectively exposed him.

To those who are upping Soliman, let's put this in perspective.

This is a guy who is a known PED user, a cab driver, that got handled by Jermain Taylor after getting a gift decision against Felix Sturm. Yet, Wade went life or death with Soliman.

Stylistically, Wade blocks punches with his face. How is that any sort of good match up against GGG?

Are you going to claim this tells the full story on Soliman then?

When you deliberately leave out vital parts of the story regarding him as a fighter recently, it only indicates you made your assessment before referring back to any evidence. Where the evidence is lacking, you'll obscure it enough to try vindicate your biased assessment. Thats kinda embarrassing..

These factors seem conveniently missing from your 'assessment':

Solimon tore his ACL in the mid rounds (5 or 6) of the Taylor fight, yet still managed to fight on despite losing a decision. He isn't a pushover then.

Sturm-Soliman 2 was easily won by Soliman. The first fight was much closer, even though he tested positive for something. Where the robbery was that you mentioned, I have no idea.

Before the injury with Taylor, he last lost in 2008 in a hard fought close match with Mundine (3).

He has a very awkward style with a very good engine, enough to give any prospect/low level contender some trouble. He has proven this over and over again.

He's no dominant world champion, but he's a good test for any top middleweight barring the elite. I'd share the resentment over this bad matchup if GGG opted this as a voluntary, but he didn't. t guess I don't have the playground mentality of picking sides and being a pro or anti-GGG foot soldier..
