Stevenson never had any intention of fighting Kovalev, and never will. Hand over the belts.

F#ck me, I agree with Duva. Duva says a million weird or nutty things, but this ain't one of them.
Stevenson needs to quit living in fantasy land already. He's diminished his value with his last year & a half or whatever of his career. When Kovalev is training for Ward, Stevenson is most likely going to be fresh from a W over Edwin Rodriguez lol. That pretty much explains this situation.
Stevenson need to start saying he's good with 40/60 or 30/70 & to call Haymon if he wants Kov or just continue fighting bs guys for a million+. He can probably spread out another 5-6 wins over the next 3 years & knock down $5M+. Thats not a bad retirement pension.
Duva is talking up an announcement for this coming week, but the reality is that Wilder-Povetkin is going to suck up all of the energy in Moscow, from now until their fight on the 21st, with Main Events (and whomever Duva sugared up to to co-promote) only having maybe a month to try and sell Kovalev's fight.
Until otherwise noted, Kovalev is still going to have to travel to Montreal to get close to netting himself a sizable payday.Comment

Thats not the full story. After they agreed to the original terms they submitted an additional term that Showtime would need to be involved which got things vetoed. The blame has definitely shifted back n forth with this fight so there are times when you could blame Kov's side & there are times when you could blame Stevenson's side & there are even times you could blame HBO directly, but this last time it was Stevenson's sides fault the fight wasn't agreed to.Comment

All this time I thought Stevenson was ducking. If you don't want to make it 50/50 then shut up. Don't be mad that Stevenson is getting good money fighting for Haymon. Step your game up and accept 50/50 so this fight can be made.Comment

duva is saying that after ward, that offer is off the tableComment

At the end of the day I don't know why people ignore that Duva backed out of a freaking purse bid. This is a fact.... Why do people ignore this??
Edit: In that case it was Kovalev's side that stopped the fight from happening, obviously Stevenson's side has caused their fair share of issues but this can't just be chalked up as Stevenson being scared. This is clearly just bs boxing politics not fighters being scared of each other.Last edited by Evil_Meat; 04-21-2016, 02:25 PM.Comment
