Stevenson never had any intention of fighting Kovalev, and never will. Hand over the belts.

      True.
But he will hand nothing over... unless Yvon Michel asks him to pass the belt to Beterbiev.

Stevenson needs to quit living in fantasy land already. He's diminished his value with his last year & a half or whatever of his career. When Kovalev is training for Ward, Stevenson is most likely going to be fresh from a W over Edwin Rodriguez lol. That pretty much explains this situation.

Stevenson need to start saying he's good with 40/60 or 30/70 & to call Haymon if he wants Kov or just continue fighting bs guys for a million+. He can probably spread out another 5-6 wins over the next 3 years & knock down $5M+. Thats not a bad retirement pension.
Kovalev still doesn't do business on his own, while Stevenson seems to do pretty decent busines for himself (being based out of the major boxing market that is Quebec doesn't hurt).

Duva is talking up an announcement for this coming week, but the reality is that Wilder-Povetkin is going to suck up all of the energy in Moscow, from now until their fight on the 21st, with Main Events (and whomever Duva sugared up to to co-promote) only having maybe a month to try and sell Kovalev's fight.

Until otherwise noted, Kovalev is still going to have to travel to Montreal to get close to netting himself a sizable payday.

From the way that this site explained it, Michel talked of bringing Showtime into the picture because the projections that Duva was seemingly pushing didn't make sense with only HBO running the shop (with the fact that Duva was only willing to have herself on the hook for a guarantee of $3m to the fighters making the hesitation even more warranted).

All this time I thought Stevenson was ducking. If you don't want to make it 50/50 then shut up. Don't be mad that Stevenson is getting good money fighting for Haymon. Step your game up and accept 50/50 so this fight can be made.

At the end of the day I don't know why people ignore that Duva backed out of a freaking purse bid. This is a fact.... Why do people ignore this??

Edit: In that case it was Kovalev's side that stopped the fight from happening, obviously Stevenson's side has caused their fair share of issues but this can't just be chalked up as Stevenson being scared. This is clearly just bs boxing politics not fighters being scared of each other.

                    Stevenson is

                    a) irrelevant
                    b) still a piece of ****.

He can retire or fight more 3rd grade bums and nobody cares.

Kovalev is the man in the division.

I think it is because Kovalev must fight on HBO as per his contract, whereas Stevenson can fight on either network. Unfortunately the powers that be render a purse bid useless. At the end of the day Stevenson could have fought on HBO against Kovalev and accepted 50/50, but chose not to.
