Boxing TV Telecast needs to reinvent itself, look to WWE?

Boxing viewership figures according to Nielsen ratings show that Boxing viewing figures on TV are falling year upon year, especially amongst 18-49-year-olds, which could mean that boxing falls from a niche sport that at times gains widespread media attention (megafights), to a niche sport that nobody really cares about.

Boxing viewership figures are not falling because the matchups aren't available on free TV. If the product is good, people will pay. Boxing cannot compete with UFC, College Basketball, Baseball on Saturday Nights, as people would rather watch these sports or other primetime TV series, rather then watch boxing, as they think that they receive more satisfaction from watching the alternatives to boxing.

There is a reason why WWE live shows are shown on TV on Mondays and Fridays, with PPV's on Sunday's, because it means that they can get more viewers to tune in, with less programmes to compete with?

Is it time that regular boxing matchups were telecasted on TV on for example Tuesday and Thursday nights, with PPV's moving to Sunday nights to not clash with UFC PPV's, and other major sporting events?

The WWE is doing A LOT worse than Boxing right now.

    Terrible comparison.

They are doing a lot better since WrestleMania. WWE did well before its slump farely recently because of choosing its telecast times strategically. And if it is doing a lot worse, then isn't it time to compete with the WWE's telecast timings?

Awful example, its Wrestlemania, of course it does well. The rest of the product? Trash. Absolutely awful.

They have been going downhill at a rapid pace since 2005. Just recently they set their all-time low for RAW viewership in a month.

Agreed. The product is awful and has been a very long time. Vince McMahon is senile.

The one thing I will say is that the video packages that Kevin Dunn does and the entrances are the absolute best.

I've always wondered why boxing didn't try to duplicate the entrances with video packages and blaring music. I mean, yeah guys have music playing and there's the big screen, but the WWE is on a whole nother level of makin' you look like a badass while you're coming out to wrestle.

We need a subscription Boxing Network that has all the PPVs and classic boxing matches.

            I'd pay 9.99 a month for that.
