Comments Thread For: Khan: I Took Canelo Fight To Secure That Pound For Pound Spot

Amir Khan is fine tuning his preparation ahead of May 7's huge fight against Canelo Alvarez. Speaking at a pre-fight media day, the WBC World Middleweight Title challenger revealed: "This is a massive fight, fighting Canelo. He is a big name around the world. Beating Canelo will definitely take me back to the top where I want to be. I've always dreamed of being one of the best pound for pound fighters in the world, and I think by beating Canelo that will definitely get me there. That is why I took this fight

P4p slot? Must be a term for a hospital bed.

On serious note, i still can not believe this fight is happening, I'm in more disbelief than when MayPac was official. Like that fight I'll only believe it when they're both in the ring and round 1 bell rings.

I give Khan all the credit in the world for taking this fight. One thing is for sure not questioned is his courage. Hoping to see a good fight and not a blowout. If Khan utilizes his quicker hands and footwork properly, it'll make for a decent fight.

I still think its funny how wishy washy some fans can be. He decides not to fight Brook he gets called a coward. However he takes the risk that he didn't have to by fighting Canelo and is called an idiot. Pretty interesting

I don't think anyone is calling him an idiot for taking this fight, they just think he doesn't have a chance to win. He just doesn't want to fight Brook though, that much is obvious. Chose Algieri instead and then went on to choose Canelo. The Canelo fight isn't bad when you look at it from the perspective of him fighting a dangerous fight. It just appears that in Khan's eyes losing to a fellow Brit is even more dangerous to his career

No one should be blaming Khan for taking this fight. All the anger should be directed at Alvarez.

Yes, beat nelo and your no1 p4p. You have had a few losses, but that's down to bravado and recjklessmness

You will be no1, but staying there is the test

Anyone who calls a professional fighter a COWARD don't know SHT! There is soo much BS involved outside of the fighters hands. Amir Khan ain't afraid of Brook. Just like Brook isn't afraid of Khan. Fighters talk sht to hype their current fight or try and get a fight. Actually only one time I came close to calling a fighter a cowards and that was Lara. He show upcat Canelos POST fight conference and talked MAD sht AFTER Canelo JUST fought. Said he was gonna destroy Canelo. KHTFO!!! And then RAN the entire fight after he got his ribs almost busted up. I guarantee he pissed blood for a few days after that fight!! I seen the look on Laras face from those body blows and you could HEAR and feel those shots land if you were there live! Casual fans for some reason don't count body shots for some reason??? Those are the WORST IMO if hit just perfect.

That P4P spot doesn't have the same flair and isn't really as legit as when Mayweather held it for so long. Floyd never lost and had kind of a mystique about him. His mid fight adjustments, defensive mastery, and under-rated offense made him a special talent.

Khan on the other hand has already been knocked senseless twice, lost 3 and never looks that great anyway. His claim to fame is "speed", AND having a weak chin. Beating Canelo isn't going to make him the greatest fighter in the world like he seems to believe. It will only show how over-rated Canelo really was. Khan wants so bad to be like Mayweather was but no way in hell he is even close and never will be. And talking like it doesn't make it so.......

                    I like Canelo TKO 9
