In the mean time, Drozd v Leb should be made and then the winners of each fight each other. That's a solid 12 months of exceptional fights at cw.
It is likely to be Glowacki-Usyk (mandatory) next and Lebedev is already fighting in the first cruiserweight unification fight since Haye-Mormeck when he fights Ramirez. Drozd will either have to retire through injury or he'll fight the new WBC champion, likely Makabu as Drozd is now WBC cHampion in recess due to his injury.

You are clueless, in recent years the cruiserweight division has produced a high number of exciting fights.

Is Usyk really going to go in v Glow this early in his career? I'd be very impressed if he does and if Glow takes this fight next.

And totally forgot about Ramirez. Good to see a unification and Leb finally getting a big fight, relatively speaking of course.

It's just sad, as you say it, this will be the first unification in almost a decade. That Hernandez or whatever his name was wasted years doing nothing with his so called "lineal" crown.

Well K2 petitioned the WBO at their convention to make Usyk who was #1 ranked by the WBO as the mandatory challenger so I guess they do want that fight soon. Hernandez was mostly just hindered by injuries unfortunately. I thought Hernandez-Cunningham for the ring magazine and 'lineal' title was a bit of a dubious judgement considering Huck was around.

There has already been made some good match-ups and there will be more to come. For example Gassiev will likely win his final eliminator and will be mandatory for Lebedev once he defeats Ramirez. Briedis-Durodola is the final eliminator for the WBC which is a good fight in itself and that sets up a good mandatory fight for Makabu once he smashes Tony Bellend. The next 18 months should be promising.

Usyk was supposed to fight Glowacki already but the Pole went with Cunningham instead. If he does it again he'll get stripped.

Lebedev is arguably on the best run in the division Kalenga is an extremely dangerous top 10 CW and that was 2015 FOTY imo. Ramirez next that's on par with Huck, Cunningham.

          Breidis vs Durodola is excellent

After destroying Bellew Makabu will either get a healthy Drozd or the Breidis vs Durodula winner

Top guys face each other more often than almost any other division now that Huck and Hernandez aren't holding titles hostage in Germany. Plus virtually all of them are certified punchers. Glowacki Huck was only the 3rd best CW fight in 2015 behind Lebedev/Kalenga and Ramirez/Afolabi. Americans don't know what they're missing.

Agreed, the next 18 months should elevate the division, hopefully someone in the UK gets behind cruiserweight coverage.

You can't say the top guys fight each other if the division title holders are not willing to fight. That looks to be changing.

I don't think you can blame Huck, he fought some very good cws and beat a lot of them. Hernandez held his title hostage and had about the same work ethic as Andre Ward.

What? The only names on Huck's resume during his "reign" are Ramirez who was an unknown at the time, Ola who was solid but nothing special, 42 year old Arslan who beat him in their first fight and Lebedev who beat him and Huck has ducked for 7 years now.

USS rematch, Adamek, Haye, G.Jones, YPH, Lebedev, the first guy he fought from this new era knocked him out and hadn't fought a single world class opponent before stepping in the ring with Huck. He's a tough guy inside the ropes but to say his career has been carefully orchestrated would be an understatement of grandiose proportions.

he fought Ola 3x and Lebedev. Better than most cws these days.

Edit: LOL are you ******? I just realised you wanted him to fight both Adamek and Haye. When were these fights supposed to happen? By the time Huck had moved to world level, Adamek was at heavyweight and Haye had won the WBA hw title.

                  Mairis Briedis 19/0 16 KO's V Durodola
                  Yunier Dorticos 20/19 KO's V Kalenga
                  Isiah Thomas V Michael Hunter
                  Keith Tapai V Tabiti
                  Gassiev 22/0 V Shimmell

                  all in the next month

then you have killers like Kudryashov, old timers like lebedev , drozd and chakhkiev still hanging around.
Mikki Nelson fighting again next week as well. Not to mention Usyk will be the future king of the division...

imagine if Shabranskyy and Gvozdyk move up to join the party good LORD.

Have to update this with Bellew.

Huck, Leb, Glow, Drozd, Bellew and a few others. There is no reason why most of these fights should not happen.

Huck is #3 with the WBC. That's a good fight for Bellew. But given how things normally go we'll probably get the McKenzie trilogy first.
