Lost to Clottey & FMJ too.

    67-7-1 Barrera:

Has held multiple world titles in three weight classes, including the WBO super bantamweight title twice, the lineal and Ring magazine featherweight titles, as well as the WBC and IBF super featherweight titles. Barrera is ranked #43 on ESPN's list of "50 All-Time Greatest Boxers".

    -Frank Toledo
-Kennedy McKinney (BW gold medal at the 1988 Olympics. Also won IBF and WBO super bantamweight titles)
    2-1 with Érik Morales
    -Naseem Hamed
    -Enrique Sánchez
    -Johnny Tapia
    -Kevin Kelley
    -Paulie Ayala
    -Rocky Juarez

Lost to Manny P, Marquez, Junior Jones twice & Amir Khan (but he was ancient).

    Greater fighter IYO?
    I go with Barrera.

As far as significant wins and fights, they are pretty close. And I have to say that Barrera fought a very close fight with Marquez that could have gone the other way. And I actually thought the rematch with Junior Jones could have gone his way, too.

Either way, Barrera was a special talent. After the Jones defeats, he really reinvented himself in a way that few fighters ever do. By the time he fought Morales the first time, he was a much better and more well rounded fighter than the one who fought Jones the first time who was more one dimensional. This did not bode well for "El Terrible" but it sure prolonged Barrera's career in many ways.

I don't think Corrales ever reinvented himself or changed his style at all really. He also had much less longevity as he was pretty much done by the time he was 29 years old, may he rest in peace. I have the utmost respect for him and loved that he was a taller guy who preferred to brawl on the inside. That is a very rare thing and the fact that he was damn good at it makes it even better. Of course, his from the jaws of defeat victory over Castillo is one of the best fights of all time and he will be remembered for that accomplishment forever.

In the end, though, I think Barrera was the better fighter and if they were at the same weight, I see Corrales having lots of moments in a high action fight but I think Barrera is too much for him down the stretch and scores multiple knockdowns before stopping him late. The "Baby Faced Assassin" was on a slightly higher level.

      Downside?

You mean he was #1 ranked featherweight in the world, undefeated in years, a string of impressive victories and in the top 10 p4p?

Barrera was in his late 20's btw. Not an old man.

AFTER the pacquiao loss barrera went undefeated for 4 yrs.

Not losing again until he fought Marquez in 2007. A close fight in which he dropped jmm.

In those 4 years after the pacquiao loss, he beat erik morales again, beat down paulie ayala, beat good fighters robbie peden and rocky Juarez twice.

He also unified the wbc and ibf 130 titles and was #1 super featherweight in the world until Marquez and pacquiao moved up to 130 too.

hadnt lost in years?? he fought Manny in 2003 and lost to Morales in 2000.. he had won 8 fights in a row..lets not exaggerate here

Corrales was his best win imo.

He looked impressive against a monster.

Remember Diego was ranked higher by some at 130 than floyd.

And this was floyd boxing at his best.

Not no potshotting, running away, clinching, boring fight.

                He beat Corrales down.

I saw a lot of potshotting and what some fans consider "running" in that fight. He got the KD's and TKO because Super Featherweight felt his power a lot more down there. Floyd landed and threw the same as always, 220 punches landed, 414 punches thrown. And yes he did potshot and used footwork(AKA ran).

For reference, versus Berto his last pro fight, Mayweather threw an almost identical amount as he did versus Corrales(albeit over 12 rounds rather than 10)...232 landed, 410 thrown. Picking a mid career fight, De La Hoya, Mayweather landed 207 of 481.

                  Power punches in those fights:
                  129 of 230 - 56% - Corrales
                  138 of 241 - 57% - DLH
                  149 of 219 - 68% - Berto

The difference obviously was the weight of the fighters, DLH and Berto were much bigger than Corrales, therefore took Mayweather's punches much better.

Three of the best years in the history of any boxers career. The names he beat in his prime between Morales 1 and Pacquiao 1...

Also, NO way is Coralles not a better win for Floyd than a W against Hatton or Mosley.
Coralles may have fit Floyd's style easily(same with Canelo), it doesn't take away from when he beat him. That's why I also don't hold much stock in Floyd's "win" over Pacquiao. (That being said, the same goes for Pacquiao beating Floyd. If they beat each other in 2010, it would arguably be the greatest single win in boxing history..)
