I 2nd that! Top Skank pulled their INFAMOUS extension BS with no end in sight. His contract was CLEVERLY written by a POS Lawyer who knew ALL the loop holes to F'k fighters over.

Garcia is a VERY smart boxer or someone he knows because they caught ALL the fine print in Top Skanks Contract

It ran out because he didn't fight again.if he would of then there was an automatic clause that would of kicked in that basically FKd him.

Mickey's an idiot, he could've kept fighting out his contract, got paid and continue to build his name and market value. Now watch him go fight Lamont Peterson and get beat. Just like Chavez getting destroyed by Fonfara after he 'beat TR'.

People are being a bit unfair to Garcia. Sometimes you have to take a stand. It is all well and good saying he should have fought out of his contract, but when you think about things that would have taken up the entirety of his career. The minimum offers were low, so unless he kept on extending his contract, he would have been offered lemons and paid peanuts.

Garcia is in a position where he will come across a lot of fighter. I hope that he uses his experience to steer them in the right direction, and away from that greedy, conniving, snake Bob Arum.

If you listen to the video with his lawyer it sounded like his main contention was with the contract extension, not the money, he'd have had to sign to get "a big fight". Thats a known promoter trick, that should be illegal, & a often discussed Top Rank specialty that TR has burned others with.

Remember when Junior was gonna get $7M for GGG until TR realized Junior didn't wanna work with TR anymore via a contract extension then the offer went to $2M for GGG? GGG had accepted an offer for $2M already. Thats bull****. Either the fight is worth x or its worth y. And Junior was FOR SURE the draw in that fight & received the lions share of the purse whatever you feel like it shoulda been. Then Junior sat for a year & I assumed was likely treated like TR poison & not offered anything like Mikey allegedly wasn't til Haymon bought out his deal from what I recall.

So basically if he'd have continued fighting for TR its plausible they could have hurt his career worse then its been hurt with 2 yrs off with bad opponent selections, off tv fights or unfavorable undercard postions &/or fight postponements or injuries that could have stretched things out past the point we are at now. Mikey didn't allow himself to get into a situation where he was playing TR's game & hoping for the best. And overall I don't think there was a winning strategy with this whole thing. There was just the least painful option to take & the one took when the possible potholes in the other roads are thought about I think had the least potential for being painful & insured he was out as quick as possible if things did get worse.

garcia's lawyer: all fighters should control their own careers.

yea when they get to a certain point after the promoter takes them to the top then they want to start controlling their careers. they don't/can't do this when they have 5 fights, no fanbase, and no buzz of course.

you talking about the contract that he signed? oh wait all fighters have the right to control their own careers but only after promoters invest a lot of time and money in them of course.
