Comments Thread For: Joseph Parker: Martin Was Not Mentally Prepared For Joshua
British boxer Anthony Joshua's big win over Charles Martin is just what Joseph Parker's camp were after and has set the Kiwi heavyweight up for a "mega fight". [Click Here To Read More]
Parker is right on the money, Martin was overwhelmed by the event. He isn't as good as many thought, but he's better than bum status... somewhere in between. But we still won't know for another couple fights if he's anything.
Parker vs AJ would be a he!!uva entertaining fight though. Takam though will be a tough one. It took Povetkin like 8-10 rounds to finally beat him down.
How are you not ready for the right hand when you're a southpaw? I mean that's like Boxing 101. Really poor preparation in my view. He needs some new trainers..
Do you think Charles Martin will ever fight again? Some people have reported that he was paid £3 million ($4.2 m) for this fight. I do not see him going back fighting for 50k after that.

This wasn't really a career ending defeat. He's not that old for a HW. £3 million isn't that much when you think about it. A fancy house and car, some luxury items and poof....gone.
Not physically prepared either. Martin is a class b fighter. No head movement. The way he fights means is a lack of defense so he would have to be very offensive to make up for it and wasn't against Joshua.

If I was Charles, I'd buy whatever construction company he worked for BEFORE he started boxing. Hell, even a different company, but just be smart with that money. He doesn't have to stop boxing, but if he makes smart business decisions, he'll be able to retire with smooth skin, and regular eye.
Opportunities/chances to make a success of yourself only come around once, twice if you're lucky. Charles needs to capitalise on that $4.2 mil in a smart, long term way.
