Who the **** are they to give Floyd a deadline to sign the fight. I think there trying to get out of it for real. They have no authority. They act like there the WBC or something. If Gatti backs out, then he loses his belt. Simple as that. Does he care about that? I dont know but they still have no authority. They are making too big of a deal out of Floyd's legal troubles. Mayweather has been trying to fight him for over a year and Gatti's camp put it off, and now all of a sudden they wait until Floyd has legal problems and thats all they talk about and there like he better hurry up and sign. Part of them want this fight but most of them dont. This fight shouldve happend this past weekend instead of that bull**** we got. Floyd wanted the Gatti fight but Gatti chose to fight Leija so he could get one last easy check before the Floyd fight which could end his career. HBO approved the Leija fight after telling Floyd a few months earlier that he was a unacceptable opponent for him. Next thing Gatti will come up with some fake injury

I have a hard time believing that Arturo Gatti is the type of man to run from a challenge.Originally posted by DLTWho the **** are they to give Floyd a deadline to sign the fight. I dont think it's him pursay but his management. However I do think Arturo has something to do with it. You can see it in his interviews. After he beat Dorin and Merchant was asking him about Floyd he was like "well, I dont know, my management was saying something about Leija but Im not scared of Floyd and I do want to fight him" You could tell that he didnt want to and now all he talks about is Floyd's legal stuff. What does that have to do with anything. He just doesnt want the fight. Theres no way the Judge would lock Floyd up before June 11Originally posted by Solo322I have a hard time believing that Arturo Gatti is the type of man to run from a challenge.Comment

Maybe his management tells him not to be overzealous in anything, not to commit to anything too hardcore. That's never a good thing. Arturo Gatti fights. He doesn't really call out fighters like Ali or other loudmouths do. He just takes them as they come. But he is going to fight Floyd. No matter what. It will happen and I'm lucky that I'll be able to see it.Originally posted by DLTI dont think it's him pursay but his management. However I do think Arturo has something to do with it. I like Gatti, but I definitely think he is trying to get out of his Mayweather showdown any way he can. Mayweather has been calling him out since 2003 (watch the interview after the N'Dou fight). Gatti knows he loses this fight, and he does not want it. Simple as that.Comment

Where did that news come from? Floyd has personally stated that he signed for fight some time ago. Main Event's confirmed that Floyd signed as well.Originally posted by DLTWho the **** are they to give Floyd a deadline to sign the fight. I think there trying to get out of it for real. Main Events Gives Floyd Mayweather Deadline Of End Of This Week
Main Events Gives Floyd Mayweather Deadline Of End Of This Week
02/02/05- Main Events, the New Jersey promotional company representing Gatti, has set an end-of-week deadline for Mayweather to resolve the legal problem or scuttle the proposed June 11 pay-per-view fight, according to Mayweather's promoter Bob Arum.
Jury selection is scheduled Feb. 25 at Grand Rapids District Court. Talks will cease if Mayweather follows that schedule, according to Carl Moretti, Main Events' vice president of boxing operations. "Our time frame is dictated by what they do," Moretti said. "But if we just knew what they had planned and what their schedule is, if we knew when they were going to enter a plea, or if we knew they weren't going to enter a plea, that would help a lot."
Moretti said negotiations absolutely could not extend beyond next week, given the advance promotion time necessary for a pay-per-view telecast. But Arum said Main Events attorney Pat English set the deadline at this week.
"As far as Main Events is concerned, Mayweather caused this by missing his trial in December," Arum said. "Their position is they'll start looking at other fighters for June 11 if Mayweather isn't available by the end of the week. "My position is different. If the legal situation is cleared up by the beginning of March, we're OK. But I don't represent their fighter and I understand their position."
