Bob got nada & Mikey sat for 2 years & change. Hardly a winner in this scenario.

Wish there was a better way to deal with this bs. Fighters losing years of their career over words on paper is f#cking ******ed. This sorta thing would probably never happen in the NFL, NBA or MLB, but seems like a couple guys a year lately get hemmed up over promoters contract bs.

So it turns out Mikey's lawsuit that the contract was expired was a lie afterall and it looks like Arum did have a valid contract afterall.

Practically played out like Goosen and Ward.

Well how did Andre Dirrell and Lucas Matthysse leave Haymon without going to court, paying to get out, or sitting out for years? Stop making ***** up.

A union is the only way to stop these predatory contracts. But it's damn near impossible to get people to join together for the betterment of the sport. Or promoters could lay out simple contracts with and end date after a certain number of fights or time period. Or they could fight on a promoter by promoter basis like Floyd and Cotto before his Roc Nation deal.

There IS a way to deal with this. Fighters hiring good lawyers so they aren't caught in bad contracts.

Idek how you'd get a union in boxing when the power structure of the sport is so spread out. A union would have to deal with promoters, alphabet groups, commissions & networks lol. Be the most expensive union ever probably with all the work they'd need to do & the level of knowledge & experience they'd need to have. Or it'd just be a limp ****.

I can't imagine your average promoter would openly go to simple & fair contracts.

And I don't think many fighters in that promising prospect to notable champion region can work on a promoter by promoter basis. Only a handful of huge names can do that. And of course the journeyman & lower level guys can do it cuz they don't have enough value. But the sweet spot of promising prospect to notable champion region needs a promoter investing in their progress on a longer term basis. It wouldn't make sense for promoters to fork over the money to build up a guy on a fight by fight basis on their break even or in the red card when they'll never get to the pot of gold with him.
