How do you Rate a fighter? current and history per division

Here is my question, how do you rate a fighter in a respective division. For example would you consider Floyd as the greatest SWW of all time? or would you consider Roy Jones the greatest LHW of all time? etc.

In my mind these fighters among others are great fighters but their best work was done outside the divisions mentioned, for example Floyed had his best run below the SWW limit while other fighters who aren't as accomplished as Floyd had a better run and SWW, similarly with Roy Jones who had his best years and fights and Middleweight and SMW. Would you rate these guys as great fighters in those divisions even though their best body of work wasn't done there and there were others who did much more in those divisions.

It is extremely hard to separate a great fighters overall accomplishment but i find it ridiculous when a fighter who is know to be great with out much of a run in a specific division is placed at the top of the division (history wise) even though they haven't done as much as others in that division.

Disclaimer: this isn't a hate thread... stay calm.

I only think of fighters in terms of their original division. They can and will get better as they get bigger because they gain more fighting knowledge and experience with time. And not just with experience but because they'd naturally focus more on technical aspects because they know they won't be able to use their physical gifts as easily against bigger fighters.

I rate them if I'm entertained by what they do in the ring. Everything else is irrelevant.

SWW as in 154 lbs? How can Floyd be the greatest SWW of all-time when he's fought at the weight 3 times? I realize he's got 3 great wins at the weight, but c'mon...

If I'm ranking the best fighters in a certain division, I look at their body of work in that particular division.

Otherwise, I look at total body of work
