    Couple questions about betting

Thinking about betting on some fights this weekend...few questions

-Is there a betting thread? (not fantasy)
-Do the odds get better or worse closer to fight night ?
    -Anybody have any tips/warnings ?

    thanks!

If the bookie feels they can generate more bets and risk making less profit but still come out ahead they generally lower the line to motivate the public on making a wager.

Have a few accounts with different bookies so that you have a better return as they compete with each other for your dollar. Bankroll management is just as important as winning.

Just found this thread through a forum search. I too am surprised that there isn't a betting thread on the forum. I bet on boxing, MMA and kickboxing exclusively. I play a mix of moneylines, over/unders and props depending on where I see value. A great resource for bettors to see the odds and line movement over time from an array of online sportsbooks is ProBoxingOdds.com, a new sister site of BestFightOdds.com which covers MMA.

My main tip other than the fundamentals of managing your bankroll wisely, would be to use multiple sportsbooks so you can get the best prices, as there is a lot of variation in odds between sportsbooks and quite dramatic line movement in fighting sports in the weeks and days before the fights. And also to use a sportsbook that allows you to make live in-play wagers during the fights.
