Sure why not, boxing supports its boxers and Maskaev needs one more payday before retirement. Look how Don King helped Golota. Besides he did knock out Rahman in their previous meeting and has been rather active lately + is the #1 contender.

I agree with the poster that said he deserves the title shot at least as much as Beck and McBride in fact he deserves it more than them.At least he is on a winning streak while Beck beat a lhw in a 8 rounder and of course McBride gets his shot because of his "huge" win over Tyson. This is a chance for Rock to get revenge so I'm all for this fight.Besides Oleg is a decent boxer with power and a shaky chin just like Rahman so this fight could be fun to watch.

I dont know, I dont think hes going to KO Rahman this time. I also dont think Rahman is all that great himself. As far as im concerned his career consist of losing to Holyfield, Lewis, Ruiz, Maskeav, and Tua. All great boxers at their respected time but most were past their prime.

I forgot his career wins over Monte Barret by UD and a older Lewis by KO are also his highlight.

Neither really seems like a champion IMO, but Rahman seems like the better man for one hes younger and two faced tougher competition. Only time will tell...

          Feel free to critisize.

Who would you recommend instead of Maskaev?

                  1) Toney is getting a shot any way
                  2) Lamon was the WBO champ, so he couldnt get a shot
                  3) Ibragimov is very good, he beat Whitacker, but Maskaev beat Samil Sam who is better than Whitacker, and he did it before Ibragimov beat Whitacker. So I think Maskaev got it fair and square.

I wasn't thinking in the terms of the belt, but these would be better competition for the belt in my opinion.
