Because GGG wants a fair match. Fighting Floyd at 154 would never happen, but if it happened, it would be at a division where Floyd was a champion at. Floyd is probably around 160 fight night when he fights at JMW. Golovkin would probably be 164 or so fight night so it would be a fair fight. Now imagine Golovkin weakened at 164 fight night for Canelo while canelo weights 175. There's no point in that. Canelo is already more heavy than GGG, he's just trying to get an advantage. GGG is willing to move down for someone if it makes sense. Not for this Canelo gay bull****.
What will be your reaction when Canelo vacates the WBC belt?

The guy outweighs golovkin in every aspect. If he wants respect, he will have to fight him at 160. Golovkin on the other side is a hypocrite by saying he would fight at 154-168. His list of opponents is subpar at best. Golovkin imo is not chasing greatness, or he would've fought Ward. He didn't seem to press to hard at the idea of froch either, but that's another story. Canelo is using the 155 thing like it's HIS own personal weight class, and people have to come to him...they dont. Golovkin is already recognized as the top fighter in the division, and waiting around to "unify the titles" is a cop out. The fact is he knows at 168 fighting the top guys will result in a loss, I'm not sure that he beats the rest of the top 160 guys tbh. In short, both of them are full of excuses, golovkin WILL NOT get the fight unless he goes to 155, and takes short money. Golovkin WILL NOT go to 168 because he will lose his appearance of invincibility. He gets hit to much now and will be stopped by the first puncher who doesn't fight like a ******ed monkey (lemieux).Last edited by Metho_4u; 04-02-2016, 03:13 PM.Comment

He will get Criticized and rightfully so but yet he will still remain the biggest draw in boxing. After Losing to Mayweather, in case some of you haven't noticed, he haven't had a title until beating Cotto and that did not stop him from being a Draw.
You get to a certain level and when you have a loyal fanbase, titles really don't mean anything because your fanbase will support you with or without itComment

I would be rather surprised that the WBC would force Canelo to do that as it would be the first time they forced him to do a damn thing.
Make more Canelo weight jokes and say he better move back to 154 because if he goes to 160 without seeing Golovkin or after Golovkin leaves would make anything he does there seem faker than a 3 dollar bill even if he does well in the class.Comment

As it stands:
Canelo contributes: name, star power, ppv buys, money, lineal title, wbc title
Golovkin contributes: 2 belts
Golovkin can have it all if he goes down 5 pounds to make it happen.
However, if the WBC strips Canelo of their title:
Canelo loses: hardcore boxing fan's respect, wbc title
Golovkin loses: star power, ppv fight, marquee name on resume, lineal title
Canelo gains: easy fights, easy money, lineal title defenses
Golovkin gains: wbc title, easy fights
In order to be the unified champion, Golovkin will still need Billy Joe's WBO title.
There was some Twitter rumor going around about Billy Joe (#3) and Daniel Jacobs (#2) wanting to fight each other. If they do fight, the loser takes himself out of Golovkin's sight. The winner will want some serious money and home field advantages to fight Golovkin.
Okay, maybe Golovkin can fight Lemieux (#4) or Lee (#5) instead? Would you look at that, Golovkin will STILL be left with Lemieux and Murray as the best names on his resume. And he will STILL not be any closer to being the unified champion. And he STILL won't be the lineal champ.
Honestly, if Golovkin can make 155, he should just do it.
If Canelo drops the WBC title, my reaction will be something along the lines of "good for Canelo, bad for Golovkin."Comment
