This fight is pointless and has basically zero buzz in the media.
This fight PPV will tank. It'll do about 350,000, and boxing will continue to slide down hill. Canelo-Khan will do more than this PPV, but still boxing will not have a PPV even close to 1 million unless Canelo-GGG somehow happens.
I'll probably buy it. Not my preference but still 2 of my favorite fighters and 2 of the best in the world. There won't be many opportunities left to see them fight.
Respect to Arum if he can manage 700k buys with the lackluster promotion & lack of much side programming to hype this fight. Didn't even use the Manny's final fight angle to try to build up the potential audience watching this fight.
First fight did 890k, 2nd fight did 750k. I feel the drop off will be greater for this one. If I was guessing I'd say 500k-ish is what they'll do. And I guess this fight will confirm we got a changing of the guard, a new PPV king in Canelo.
Not good for boxing IMHO, sets a precedent for more ****ty fights in the future.
True. There is some justice in a ****ty matchup doing ****ty numbers. I'm more concerned with Canelo vs Khan finding more suckers doe. Whatever happens with this fight Bradley is never gonna become a PPV entity like Manny or Floyd. And Manny is out the door...even if he doesn't walk all the way out of it after this fight. But Canelo is the future of PPV right now & if he can get away with big numbers vs Khan they'll have a ton of leeway with putting on **** PPV fights for years to come which while padding GBP's & Canelo's bank account will have a overall negative impact on the sport.
