Is the IBO a world title?

Honestly I get embarrassed when I hear the ring announcer saying GGG or Klitschko (before Fury) are defending or still reigning IBO champ.Comment

It's a cliche but worth repeating here: It's the man who makes the belts, not the belts which make the man.
The IBF, WBC and WBA have done their level best to undermine trust and respect in their status as boxing authorities so I don't see why anyone should still put them on a pedestal. Does anyone honestly agree that IBF holder Charles Martin is a legitimate world champion? Is Lucas Browne's WBA title in any way meaningful? What about Chagaev's before it? Is WBC champ Wilder (and I'm a fan) justified in fighting the level of opposition he's been fighting up till now? The IBO belt is around the waist of the recognised number one heavyweight on the planet so as far as I'm concerned that endorses it just fine.
Fans can't moan about the sanctioning orgs then go back to exactly the same conservative attitude as before. Attitudes have to change.Comment

True. And correct me if I'm wrong but when it comes to being an undisputed champion only the WBA,WBC and IBF belts are required right? The WBO isn't a requirement to be considered undisputed right?

Oh yes being referred to as a "regular" or "interim" champ is embarrassing as well. IBF has some age and prestige and if I remember correctly is one of the 3 belts required to be "undisputed".Comment
