If his heart isn't in it, no point of returning. Like he said, he has good money, and he owned a tattoo parlor from what I remember so hopefully he's good and can live life comfortably.

The only comparable talent he fought afterward was Postol. He was falling all over the place vs Molina, fought the most one dimensional fighter in boxing with Provodnikov and I don't know what no names in between. Danny was the beginning of the end for him, because he struggled in damn near every fight since Danny

Poor Matthysse losing his urge to fight, happy for him though if he's retiring, Postol really took what's left

i've heard the interview. to be honest is kinda confusing, he said he doesn't feel like training at the moment, he hints that might retire. then he said he and his time has completed a cycle and hints he'll come back. i have the feeling that he will be back but if he does it, like others posters have said, i hope he is fully motivated

ps: chino is a cyclist now

Said it before, but damn I'm sorely missing my 3 favourite Argie fighters who've either retired or likely will. :sad1:

Respect to Matthysse being honest with himself & his fans. Most cats would fleece their fans & boxing in general for a year or two while still phoning it in.

I wish more guys would get out early. This is a brutal sport & a young mans game. No reason to sell your brain cells for cash any longer than you have to & Matthysse has for sure made some money in this sport.

He had an aura of invincibility that completely disappeared once Danny Garcia beat him. He hasn't really been the same since as evidenced by the struggles against Molina of all people.
