Fighting Nobody Because Their 1st Pick Is Unavailable

Amir set the trend. He couldn't fight Floyd then proceeded to sidestep the bulk of 147.

Next up is Amir's buddy Kell. He made a habit of randoms in Europe after Amir rejected him.

gennady was content to avoid Ward, Erislandy, etc because he couldn't get Saul, Froch, etc.

Am I missing any other practitioners of this disturbing trend?

How do you avoid fighters that aren't in your weight divison?

It's the idea of holding out for that #1 to come back. If Amir faced the toughest guys at 147 and lost, he doesn't get his #1 anymore. Fighting secondary guys allow him to get paid while maintain the idea of deserving it.

He half way redeemed himself by fighting Alvarez.

Going for a payday while moving up 2 weight classes to face a threat.

Thurman did/does that a lot. If I can't get Mayweather then I'll fight a nobody.

It's the ballsiest move the sport has seen in a while. He's been near death against guys like 25 pounds lighter than Canelo. Even for a payday, it redeems most of it.

Ward didn't do himself any favors putting his career on hold in 3 failed attempts to get out of his promotional contract. He sat out for 2 years and hasn't come anywhere near making 168 since returning to the ring.

As for Lara, well **** him. Years ago I had a wisdom tooth extraction I enjoyed more than any of Lara's fights.

              Broke ass Rigondeaux.
