No way in hell Golovkin would have made $10 million fighting Froch. He considered fighting Froch because Frock was an easier opponent than Ward. Nothing more. Nothing less.

A chance at being the universally recognised p4p #1 is a step back? That's a new one.

I'm not completely convinced the fight sells out Wembley Arena either.

Yes, late 90's and very early 2k Floyd was facing true threats. But that didn't last when he reinjured his hand against Baldomir. Beyond that Floyd was always fighting guys he knew he could beat. Champions sure, but nowhere near his level.
I'm not dissing Floyd, I'm a Floyd fan, but let's be honest here.
Golovkin's now 10 years in and he still hasn't fought anybody who was a threat besides Rosado and even that was a beating. Champions sure, but nowhere near his level.
Thats all I'm saying. Risk aversion is the new game. Even Terrence Crawford is getting in on the good stuff.
Yet, all of these fighters were considered great before, and sometimes after, their fights with Floyd.

Why do boxing fans act like a combat sport where one punch in the wrong place is the same as being in the NBA? All the f'ing whining and shhh about fight this guy or that guy. Ward spent 12 years at super middleweight not one of us who saw him come from the olympics demanded he even budge an inch, hell not even when Dawson came down to fight him. Yet these white dudes from Europe come over here after sitting in obscurity for nearly a decade and they are supposed to move every which way but the way they want. I'm glad mofo's at least let Kovalev eat without talking so much shh.
