Comments Thread For: Abel Sanchez: Kovalev Destroys Ward With Shots Barrera Landed
Abel Sanchez, trainer for Sullivan Barrera, says Andre Ward (29-0, 15KOs) is in no way ready for a showdown with WBO/WBA/IBF light heavyweight king Sergey Kovalev (29-0-1, 26KOs). [Click Here To Read More]
No doubt kovalev is levels above an inexperienced barrera.
fact is that was the guys 18th fight
And he hasnt beaten anyone.
This is the pros
??? And he should be. Kov has practically 15 more fights then Barrera does. Also who has Kov. REALLY even beaten??? Hopkins and Boone. That's it. He's gonna have his 1st loss here against Ward.
Definitely thinks Kov beats Ward as of now. Not sure if the fight is happening next but even over the next 2 fights am still going with Kov. He isn't just a puncher but a clever boxer.
Boring Dull Andre Ward has zero fan appeal and lacks excitemant
Andre Ward looked good in beating the slow iron head plodding Barrera who is a bum. Give Ward credit for moving up and finally fighting after the long layoffs. Ward has squandered his meager career via dumb management and over inflating Ward's importance to boxing. Ward is a nothing as far as fan appeal goes. Ward is a dull fighter who acts white looks mulatto and thinks 100% ****** black. Ward needs a white manager to guide him and make Ward some decent cash.
I agree, Kovalev's power is obviously a game changer but he's also boxing pretty well these days. Ward chin is decent and his overall defense is still very good however he appears reluctant to throw the right hand on a regular basis and his accuracy or timing is slightly off.
This fight was exactly what Ward needed to identify his current deficiencies. He has the potential to make it a 50/50 fight if he can shake off the remaining rust or adjust to the loss of certain physical attributes.....not sure which one it is.
