Kovalev says Ward needs 2 more fights to settle in

    Over at DontaesBoxing Nation.

What does that mean? Kovalev will give him the opportunity to settle in? The fight won't happen this year it seems.

It's entirely possible that kovalev saw ward not looking 100%,and attributed/this to lack of activity/ring rust instead of slippage. Scary possibility, but I think that kovalev wants ward at 100% so there won't be any excuses when he krushes him.

Kovalev actually said that he expects to fight Ward this fall as planned... but he also said that the deal was that Ward gets 2 tune-ups beforehand...
... Kovalev actually meant that Ward might fight again this summer and then be ready for their fight...
... Kovalev only reminds people what the original deal was about... Now ward may say he's ready and fight Kovalev directly...

Maybe... But it's entirely possible he saw Ward a bit rusty, yet Ward still has speed and skills, and Kovalev needs more time to prepare. Ther is also the possibility that they want Ward to fight again, to honor the contract and get the pay per view numbers up???

Oh but when I create a thread and say Ward needs 2-3 more fights to get his speed, timing and accuracy back and become comfortable, I'm just trying to protect his 0.

Props to Kovalev for having honor and trying to beat Ward the straight up way.

Kovalev is a Ward fan as well, huh?

I think one more fight for both, then lace them up.

Like to see Kov send Stevenson to the bushes, Ward vs. Fonfara.

But nobody cares what I like.

Just want to see them square up sooner rather than later.

As a fan of both fighters, ID prefer Ward have another fight at 175 before the Kovalev match. That way it it would be both at there best when it happens. Ward looked good but jumping up 7 pounds to fight the meanest dude in boxing, he needs to settle in a bit more.

Ward does need about 1-2 more fights to be honest

                  This makes absolute sense.

I highly doubt Ward will fight Kov straight away. Reaching for greatness though.

I thought him saying this would be ******, turned out it never happened.

Ward's getting another fight in the summer pre-Kovalev. Now whether HBO gives it to him or RNS has to take him back to BET in July is another story entirely.
