His fans just see him in defense mode, kinda rolling, kinda moving and automatically assume he is not getting touched, when they traded jabs, they only see Ward landing.....just going with the narrative....

He was getting touched with the jab all night, it was worrying, because if that was Kovalev touching him with the jab, he would have gotten broken down over the course of the fight. He was also getting caught with some hard body shots, and right hands that he rolled too late.

The commentary team played it like he was the slickest thing on earth, but he was getting touched. His face wasn't red for nothing.

Ward ate a lot of jabs tonight. He wouldn't get away with that against Kovalev, but i'd imagine he would be extra cautious and alert in that fight.

Exactly. For those thinking after tonight that Ward will be walking Kovalev down, that will not be the case. He will try to win on points in the safest manner possible.
